The second round of the French Electric buggy Nationals took place last weekend at the Antibes track. Although this was the second round of the Nationals, it was the first outdoor race of the year and in qualifying it was local racer Nicolas Vouilloz that took the TQ spot in the 4wd mod class while in 2wd mod it was Carl Maignien who claimed top spot. In the 4wd mod finals it was Vouilloz, driving his JConcepts BJ4WE, that carried his form forward from qualifying to take the win ahead of Cyril Baldini with X-Factory driver Antoine Rossetti claiming the 3rd spot. In the 2wd mod finals it was Team Losi XX4 racer Carl Maignien that took the win in front of Alex Valente while Olivier Demonfumat took the final spot on the podium in 3rd.

Last week we wrote about a piece we saw on Neo Buggy stating that Richi Gomez could be brought to court by Axe Rossi for breach of contract. Today our other site partners Buggy Sport received the exclusive manifesto from Ricardo Gomez, father of Richi, in which he states (in my understanding as its difficult to read) that they have upheld their side of the agreement and that Axe have not lived up to theirs. What it essentially comes down to is that Axe Rossi have not supplied them with sufficient product support and that what they have recieved has been of substandard quality and definitely not worthy of a top international racer who needs to compete at the highest level. Problems like leaking in both the combutsion chamber and carburettor, to poorly made exhaust systems, these motors have been unusable and replacements have not been forthcoming and thus to fullfill his obligations to his other sponsors he has had to source other engines, which seems fair enough.
We received a mail from the guys at CEN letting us know that at the last Florida Off-Road State Series racer CEN Racing managed to get 8 drivers, combined, into the A Main Events using their Matrix and Matrix Arena TR. CEN Racing have also announced that they have added two of Florida’s top drivers to the team, Travis Scrambling and Tony Patishall.
Travis has been racing for a while and has proven his skills at many of the nations top racing events. After a break from racing Travis chooses CEN Racing and the Matrix line of product to make the return to the spotlight and competitive racing. Tony Patishall is a seasoned racer and specializes in the Truggy class. His confident driving style matches perfect with the Matrix Arena TR and at Tony’s first race he showed a very promising future with the Matrix Arena TR.
Some time back we showed you the HPI Firestorm gas powered 1/10th scale truck that, amongst other things, comes as standard with a rather nice pre painted bodyshell. For those racers who want their own personalised look, HPI Racing have just released a clear unpainted version of that DSX bodyshell, which not only fits the Firestorm, but is suitable for other trucks such as the HPI Nitro Rush.

Last weekend saw the first round of the 2007 Electric off road nationals held at the Heazel Arena, Tivertons indoor racing venue. Jimmy and Vicky were there, racing, snapping photos and taking notes and they now have their race report online. Lots of great pictures will be online soon but in the meantime you can read about the event in which Darren Bloomfield took the win in 2wd and Lee Martin took the 4wd victory.
Our site partners Neo Buggy are reporting that young Swedish star Christoffer Svensson has been snapped up by French tyre company Medial Pro and for the 2007 season Christoffer will run Medial Pro’s updated range of tyres, rims and products. This marks a resurrgence in the Medial Pro brand with two of Sweden’s top drivers now using their rubber, Robert Gustafssen having joined last week. Just this weekend both drivers were at the XRAY Challenge in Denmark, with Robert winning the event, and Christoffer putting in a strong round 5 qualifying TQ followed by a good run in the final before he retired with technical problems.
