Mattia Collina joins Xray factory team

Xray have announced the signing of Italy’s Mattia Collina to their factory team. Already an Xray driver before and the main driving force of Xray in Italy, Mattia now gets full factory support and he will participate at all major national and international races. The former ETS winner and multiple Italian Touring Stock class champion has the following to say about the deal:

I am very happy and honoured to be part of the factory Xray team for the next seasons. The teamwork & constantly development is for me the best on the market as well as the car in terms of material and performance. In the Xray team I have found real friends and teammates that are always ready to help and to have fun. I hope to continue with collecting great results nationally and internationally as it has been happening in the last seasons.

Tebo take first 4WD qualifier at JConcepts Finals

Having topped seeding practice yesterday at the JConcepts Indoor National Series Finals, Jared Tebo picked up where he left off to claim the opening round of 4WD qualifying at Speed RC in North Carolina.  Topping the first of the three qualifiers from Damion Borkowicz by one second, Tebo’s run was far from perfect with the Kyosho driver benefiting from the mistakes of others namely Alex Kosciuszek who ended up third. Posting the fastest lap of Q1, Kosciuszek looked on target to open qualifying with a TQ until he rolled his Associated allowing Tebo to snatch the fastest time.  Having set the early pace Spencer Rivkin would fail to finish pulling an arm off his Associated half way through the 5-minute qualifier as he ran side by side with Tebo on the track, Tebo being delayed when he collected Rivkin’s broken car coming onto the straight.

Castle Creations Mamba X sensored speed controller

Coming soon from Castle Creations is the Mamba X sensored brushless speed controller for 1/10th scale applications. Capable of handling 2S to 6S LiPo battery packs the waterproof controller features an adjustable standard and high-voltage BEC system, it is telemetry and data logging capable, and it works with Castle Creations’s 1406, 1410 and 1415 sensored motors as well as other sensored brushless motors of comparable specifications. An addition cooling fan keeps the speedo, that is housed in an aluminium case, cool in demanding applications.

Race in to Reedy Event – Announcement

The Reedy Offroad Race of Champions organisers have announced a unique opportunity for those racers who were not drawn in the lottery for the Open class. On January 14, 2017 at 6pm, OCRC will host a qualifying event where racers will vie for six additional spots in the Open Class and earn a position into the Reedy International Offroad Race of Champions. These six spots will be in addition to the original 100 drawn lottery entrants. More information about the qualifying event can be found here.

Traxxas introduce upgraded X-Maxx 1/8th monster truck

Traxxas have introduced their upgraded X-Maxx 1/8th electric monster truck. With the current model already being a pretty impressive piece of kit, the 2017 variant will offer even more strength and power. The X-Maxx 8S is packed with new 8S-rated components engineered to handle the brutal torque and incredible speed of 30+ volts 8S LiPo batteries. Full steel-gear driveline, larger driveshafts, larger main bearings, strengthened bulkhead, new heavy-duty ring and pinion gears, dual-fan motor cooling and more make the truck ready for the use with two 4S LiPo packs. The new torque-biasing center drive unit distributes the power for maximum wheels-up punch and unrelenting acceleration. For current X-Maxx owners Traxxas will offer an upgrade kit that brings the truck to 2017 specifications. The X-Maxx 8S will hit stores in February.

Nothing in it as Tebo tops 2WD seeding from Rivkin

Having topped 4WD seeding at the JConcepts Indoor National Series Finals, Jared Tebo went on to complete the double when he topped the 2WD times but only just from Spencer Rivkin.  Tebo set the fastest three consecutive laps in a time of 50.804 while Rivkin posted a time of 50.809.  The only other driver to manage a 16-second lap around the Speed RC track, Brent Thielke would complete the Top 3 with the Team Associated Team Manager outpacing his team driver Alex Kosciuszek and Serpent driver Will McIver.

Tebo tops 4WD seeding at JConcepts Finals

Jared Tebo topped seeding practice at JConcepts Indoor National Series Finals in Mooresville, North Carolina, the Kyosho driver fastest over 3-consecutive laps of the Speed RC track. With just a single round of seeding practice, the Kyosho driver was over a 1-second fastest than his close rivals with Spencer Rivkin and Alex Kosciuszek recording an identical time of 49.660. The JConcepts Indoor National Series’ first visit to the track of ex Formula 1 and Nascar racer Scott Speed, the event is set to decide this year’s overall 4WD champion with the three winners from the season’s previous four events, Rivkin, Kosciuszek and Max Flurer. Winner of the 4th round in Boston back in October, Flurer would struggle in his seeding round setting the 5th fastest overall behind Matt Cline with Daimon Borkowicz completing the Top 6.

Reedy Blackbox 510R competition brushless ESC

Reedy have introduced their new Blackbox 510R brushless speed controller. Housed in a black anodised aluminium case with integrated heatsink the ESC features an adjustable standard or high-voltage BEC system, RPM and ESC temp data logging, an on-board power button as well as fully adjustable brake, throttle, power and safety functions. With the help of the PROgrammer2 box the controller’s software functions can be fully exploded and as an addition the box operates also as a battery monitor and USB firmware update device. The 510R ESC includes two modes that can be modified and saved independently from one another. The standard mode offers a wide variety of tuning options while the expert mode takes it one step further and opens additional options for more experienced racers and/or racing classes that can take advantage of these more complex settings.
