Neil Cragg takes 4wd European title

Neil Cragg takes 4wd European title

Our friends at oOple are reporting that Neil Cragg took a hard fought win in the 4WD event at the 2008 EFRA European Championships with the new Yokomo B-Max to back up his win in 2wd a few days earlier. Neil didn’t have everything his own way in qualifying – laying in third position overnight. As mentioned in the oOple race report though, the last two qualifiers can change everything and Neils Yokomo was dialled in the last two qualifiers – taking both rounds to give him overall TQ. Neil won the first two legs of the A and sat out the third to allow the other drivers to battle for second. Hupo Honigl took the third in an amazing race with Lee Martin right behind all the way – giving him second overall, with Lee Martin third.

Hudy TC & Buggy Car stands

Hudy TC & Buggy Car stands

Seen at February’s Toy fair, Hudy have now released this range of stylish car stands for both 1/10 electric and nitro touring cars as well as a version for 1/8th scale off road buggies and truggies. The surface on both stands is black powder coated for maximum long life and to withstand abusive working conditions and has a very small footprint making it very handy to pack for travel. Strategically-placed holes provide a great place for temporarily storing standard or big-bore shocks during rebuilds, and laser-engraved markings (FL, FR, RL, RR) ensure you keep track of the proper shocks. Four rubber feet mean that the stand will stay firmly in place and not move while working on the car and 2 super-soft foam strips bonded to the top surface make sure that the car will sit softly and will not move while you’re working on it. Laser-engraved Hudy logos adorn the stylish black powder coated surface.

HongNor X2 CRT 1/8th Truggy

HongNor X2 CRT 1/8th Truggy

HongNor have announced that production is now complete and that they will begin selling their new 1/8th scale truggy, the X2 CRT. The new car claims to have better balance due to the engine being moved forward on the longer wheel base and narrower chassis, which removes some unwanted body roll. Some of the materials have also been modified for durability and the front lower arms have been strengthened. The center diff has been replaced with a lower profile mount with a smaller spur gear, while the steel offset brake cams and center diff mounts, that were initially supplied as an optional extra, are now included in a durable nylon. Further changes to the transmission include the front and rear crown wheel and pinion that have been replaced by a smaller 45 tooth spiral cut crown wheel and a 10 tooth spiral cut pinion and this allows the diff to spool up faster and give smoother operation and acceleration. The outdrive cups have also been lightened to reduce the rotating mass.

Mugen MBX6 CAD images

Mugen MBX6 CAD images

UK Mugen distributor Race Prep Longshaw Distribution, has CAD images of the latest Mugen buggy, the MBX6. According to the text on the site that describes the visible features on the car from the pictures, the first noticable thing is that shock absorber suspension cups are very deep to ensure the spring stays in place. Its a completely new car with what looks to have hardened aluminium parts throughout such as the main chassis, shock bodies etc. as well as what appears to be lightened diff-outdrive cups. The front drive shafts use a captured drive pin inside the bearing, and if you look closely at pic 3 below you can see the small grub screw which will allow you to tighten the drive shaft cup without pulling the whole drive train apart. In the final picture below, you can see that the anti-roll bar mounts are angled for easier tuning from the side of the car and for protection of the rear end parts, and to help keep unsprung weight down, the car is supplied with rear mud guards.
