Reedy Zappers high-voltage LiPo batteries

Reedy Zappers high-voltage LiPo batteries

Team Associated have introduced the Reedy Zappers high-voltage and high-performance battery packs. Originally referring to Reedy’s proprietary NiMH voltage enhancement technology, the new LiHV batteries offer a 7.6 nominal voltage which means that, with a suitable charger, the battery can be safely charged to 8.7V or 4.35V/cell. This makes the batteries ideal for outlaw racing series or bashing. When the typical 8.4V or 4.2V/cell charging limit is enforced, the battery still offers a significant advantage thanks to a flatter discharge curve, which results in more voltage deeper into the race. For those who race where approved batteries are required, 7.4V Zappers packs are available and feature the same discharge curve characteristics as the 7.6V versions. Each pack features a high-quality, durable hardcase that helps prevent damage while heavy-duty 5mm socket connectors keep power-robbing resistance to a minimum. Pass-through sockets reduce jumper wire lengths in applications where two batteries are utilised. The 7.6V packs are available as 6000mAh (277g) and 8000mAh (329g) variant while the 7.4V packs come in 5600mAh (277g) and 7400mAh (329g) specification.

Aapo Koro wins at FinTrack Tour II

Aapo Koro wins at FinTrack Tour II

The recent FinTrack Tour II was organised by KyPak and it attracted a good amount of drivers to compete in several electric on-road classes including Touring Cars and Formula. In the Formula category it was Aapo Koro who dominated the qualifiers to take the TQ and with it the pole position for the triple A-mains. A1 then saw Aapo rolling in the fast chicane, promoting Riku Teräväinen into the lead that he would hold until the end. In A2 Aapo had learned his lesson and he took an easy win, meaning the third and final A-main would decide over the win. In the high-grip conditions of A3 Riku was not able to match Aapo’s pace and this allowed Aapo Koro to take the win and with it the overall victory. Riku Teräväinen ended the day on the runner-up spot in front of Ilpo Koivisto.

Fenix X1 & SF2 aluminium chassis parts

Fenix have released new optional chassis and pod plates for the Xray X1 and Serpent SF2 formula car kits. Starting with the X1 chassis, it was designed to be way slimmer than the original, reducing scrubbing during hard cornering. Thanks to strategically machining the chassis weighs in at about 76g and it offers a good balance between torsional flex and rigidity. Also available is a suitable aluminium motor pod. Made as a direct replacement for the standard carbon fibre parts are the aluminium chassis and motor pod for the Serpent SF2. Machined from 7075-T6 aluminium and coming black anodised the parts make for different flex characteristics which can be beneficial in a range of track conditions. Additionally Fenix have also announced the Rattlesnake chassis conversion kit for the SF2 that allows to run the desired cross battery position. Reds Racing R7 Evoke V3.0 nitro engine

Reds Racing R7 Evoke V3.0 nitro engine

Reds Racing have announced the release of the new R7 Evoke V3.0 Mario Rossi tuned .21 off-road engine. The engine represents the company’s latest high performance offering and it was designed with improved fuel efficiency, performance and reliability in mind. Like the previous lineup, the R7 Evoke is specially aimed at the use on low grip and narrow circuits where the smoother torque curve of the engine can give an advantage. New to the 7-port long-stroke engine is a new combustion camber sealing that helps to keep dirt away from the redesigned internals. Also new are the lightweight crankcase and cooling head, all adding to a lower centre of gravity engine while the tuned crankshaft, made from special carbon steel, comes double balanced and silicone-filled for maximised engine performance. Part of the package is also the Diamond backplate with a special anti-friction hard-coating that reduces the conrod-backplate friction for improved engine efficiency and performance. Rounding out the hand-made, hand-tuned and hand-assembled V3.0 engine are a high-quality, Japanese-made steel front and Swiss-made steel-ceramic rear bearing.

Destiny RX-10S 1/10th touring car kit

Destiny RX-10S 1/10th touring car kit

Following a couple of prototype images, Destiny have released a handful of production kit images of their all-new RX-10S 1/10th touring car kit. At the first glance the car is of a class-standard design with a double deck carbon fibre chassis, different chassis flex options and low-profile big bore shock absorbers. A bit of a difference though are the lower wishbones with honeycomb-shaped reinforcement struts, as well as the rail-type steering and hex adapter design, with the latter two reminding of the design used on a certain Russian touring car. Other features of the RX-10S kit include specially coated spring-steel driveshafts, C-hubs with caster inserts, POM damper pistons, as well as a lightweight composite front spool. It is understood that the first batch of the kit is ready for shipment, meaning the car will hit the stores shortly.
