The inaugural Reedy 1/12 Race of Champions took place in Milton Keynes, UK last weekend. Cole Ogden wins at the Colonel's Winter Classic

The Colonel’s Winter Classic was held in Savannah, Georgia this past weekend and the event started out pretty wet as Friday’s practice was rained out. Saturday the drivers were greeted by a muddy track that became pretty tacky by the start of the qualifying. Qualifiers were then shortened due to the call of making a 2-day race, into a 1-day race as rain was approaching for Sunday’s main day. The nitro mains would finally come around at 1 am and in Nitro Buggy is was Cole Ogden who would lead the main from start to finish to take the win from Griffin Hanna. Elsewhere in the Nitro Truggy main it would be veteran racer JR Mitch taking the win from runner-up Cole Ogden.

Winterjumps Series Rd3 – Report

Winterjumps Series Rd3 – Report

The third round of the Finnish Winter Jumps Series was held this past weekend with around 100 drivers from all over Finland in attendance. The qualification of the 2WD Buggy class was a super tight battle between the top 3 drivers and in the end it were Karri Salmela, Samppa Orhanen and Joel Valander who grabbed the top 3 positions for the A-mains. The opening A-main was a pretty crazy affair as at first Karri was able to open a small gap on the field until he got collected by backmarkers. This promoted Joel into the lead in front of Samppa. The two then also got mixed up by slower drivers, costing Joel some concentration, resulting in a coming together between Joel and Samppa. This allowed August Poutiainen to cruise to the win in A1. The second A-main then had Joel taking the win after the top 2 guys crashed and A3 brought the decision for the overall victory with Karri taking the top spot from August and Joel in second and third respectively.

Speedzone Peerless V2 brushless motors

Speedzone Peerless V2 brushless motors

Speedzone have released their second generation Peerless series electric brushless motors. The motors feature higher tolerance and more durable components, which helps facilitate a lower resistance, longer lasting motor. A variety of turns are available and each motor is built to the highest of standards. The motors are bench tested and the lightweight design features upgraded bearings and symmetrical vent openings, which in conjunction with the case and stator structure further reduces motor temperature and maximises efficiency. It also allows for easy stator measurement without disassembly. Spec motors are produced with a short stator and HT rotor while modified motors come with a standard size stator.

The Modified class had a few notable absentees, as championship leader Olly Jefferies, along with Xray team mate Alexander Hagberg, were on 1/12th duties at the Reedy Race. However, all of the other top UK drivers were in attendance, joined as well by Ride’s own Ludo Leflon, making the trip over from Thailand to support the event.

The first annual Stadium Nitro Shootout was hosted by the Dialed In R/C Raceway with a little over 100 entries. Adam Drake was the top qualifier for Nitro Buggy and Nitro truck and in the Buggy class he would win the first and second of the 10 minute triple A-mains to take the overall title early. Sitting out A3 Adam made way for Richard Saxton who took the win in the final leg. The Truck A-mains were a bit tougher for Adam as he got shuffled back in the beginning of A1 but he came back to win the final. The leg then was again won by a dominant Drake who took the win by more than a lap and with it the overall victory.
