JConcepts Bar Flys 60mm buggy tyres

JConcepts Bar Flys 60mm buggy tyres

JConcepts have a new bar-type 1/10th buggy rear tyre available, the Bar Flys. Based off of the successful Bar Code V1 the newly designed tyre offers a reduced overall tread height and a blended tread/carcass section. In-between the slotted bars, tiny Pressure Point size pins were added for increased surface area. The micro-height of the tread transitions out to the all important side-wall area where the team has maintained position of the original “Cactus” feature but have also positioned a new V-joint feature to support the lateral load of high-speed circuits. The Bar Flys are built on the 60mm bead and carcass design making them interchangeable with all 60mm/2.4″ wheel combinations. The interior ribbing features the double-hatch pattern that helps maintain a comfy ride while each set of tyres includes the Dirt-Tech closed cell inserts. The tyre is available as 2WD front, 4WD front and 2WD/4WD rear variant in various compounds.

Tamiya Nissan GT-R LM Nismo & TT-02S Type-S

Tamiya Nissan GT-R LM Nismo & TT-02S Type-S

Coming soon from Tamiya are the Nissan GT-R LM Nismo and the TT-02D Type-S kits. Starting with the Nissan, the full-scale car is the company’s LMP1 contender for this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans race and a pretty special machine as the GT-R LM Nismo is a front motor/front driven vehicle. Tamiya’s 1/10th scale kit unfortunately does not mimic this setup but uses a pretty standard F103GT rear wheel drive pan car chassis with rubber tyres. The included Nissan bodyshell is a multi-piece affair with separate rear fin and rear wing as well as a comprehensive decal sheet.

Essex Summer Series 2015 – Announcement

Essex Summer Series 2015 – Announcement

The EWS events team, the organisers of the  successful Essex Winter Series and International Carpet Challenge events in the UK, have announced that their outdoor Essex Summer Series race will return in 2015. Last year, the ESS took their race format and style of event to an outdoor track for the first time, and the team have again secured the use of the Adur Model Car Club facility on the South Coast, to stage the event again this year. The event, which will take place on the weekend of August 15th and 16th, will remain largely unchanged from last year. The event will start mid-morning on Saturday, meaning drivers do not need to travel on Friday evening to help reduce costs. A large marquee will again be used for pitting to create the typical EWS Events atmosphere. The event will consist of controlled practice, qualifying and three-leg finals, with classes for Modified and Super Stock 13.5 Blinky Touring Car, both running on the Sorex 32RY control tire, and new for 2015, a Formula 1 class running to the widely accepted ETS rules. All abilities of driver are welcomed, with the organisers also hoping to be able to announce a number of star international visitors to the event for this year to battle against the best in the UK. Entries are now open here, where further information is also available.
