Rug Racers Rd3 – Report

The recent third round of the 2015/16 Rug Racers series welcomed people in from the rain and the excesses of Christmas, the pits were awash with shiny new toys that loved ones had bestowed upon them to spread some Christmas cheer and get them out the house for a few weekends of racing a year. The race again was fully booked and so controlled practice was the starting order of the day and once all 11 practice heats had been completed it was onto driver briefing and then game time. In Open Modified Elliott Harper took 3 of the 4 rounds, being the only driver on the day to get into 31 laps with young Harley Eldridge taking round 4 Kyle Branson being 2nd in every round.

ARC R8.0 2016 1/8th nitro on-road kit

ARC have introduced the R8.0 2016 1/8th nitro on-road kit. Combining all the features of the successful R8.0, the 2016 model includes selected, previously available option parts as well as new features designed to make maintenance easier while improving reliability at the same time. The flex 2-speed bulkheads are now included as standard, they provide more flex in the rear of the chassis resulting in improved rear end traction. Another feature of the flex bulkheads is a 1.5mm higher layshaft position which helps prevent the spur gears from touching the track surface under extreme cornering which can lead to failure. Also included is the drilled and thus vented brake disk that gives a more linear feel as it helps to reduce brake temperature for less brake fading

Yokomo YR-10F aluminium rear axle

Coming from Yokomo and made for the YR-10F formula car is an aluminium rear axle. Made from high-quality aluminium the shaft scrubs rotational mass for improved acceleration and better braking performance while also saving some weight when a different weight distribution is needed. A special hard-coated surface makes for low wear and high durability.

BMT GT chassis 2-speed gearbox

Italian company BMT have introduced a 2-speed gearbox set for belt-driven 1/8th GT cars. The set includes everything needed including a clutch bell with interchangeable, highly efficient 0.8 module gears to help adapt the gear ratio to different track dimensions when needed. The 2-speed gearbox fits all BMT GT kits and also the cars of other brands.

2016 Venom Offroad Jam – Announcement

The annual Venom Offroad Jam is back for it’s 4th year in a row, hosting some of the hottest indoor offroad R/C racing in the midwest on January 29-31. The event returns to Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs, Missouri, providing racers heated indoor pits, restrooms, on-site hobby shop, nearby lodging, food, entertainment, and more. Beside racing the event will see the annual Sponsor Raffle, Dash 4 Cash Race, the signature ‘Worst Weekend Award’ contest, and more to make everyone feel like a winner. F.T. Line hand-tuned 1/8th on-road engine

F.T. Line have introduced their new 1/8th scale nitro on-road engine. The hand-tuned, hand-built, checked and numbered high-end competition engine is equipped with a Swiss-made ceramic rear and steel front bearing and it comes with a certificate of authenticity that includes the serial number of the engine beside other information.

ProTek R/C aluminium LED pit light

Coming from Protek R/C is a foldable aluminium LED pit light. It utilises a rotatable head system with 270-degrees of adjustment that enables to direct the light exactly where it is needed. The compact, foldable design can be adjusted to nearly any position without the use of knobs or screws. Additionally, the light has three colour settings and five levels of brightness that are all available through touch sensitive buttons. The pit lamp can be powered by a 12V DC power source, a USB cable and either a 2S or 3S LiPo and a zippered canvas carrying pouch with an embroidered ProTek R/C logo is included to protect the unit when it is not in use.

SWorkz CX11 electric touring car – First images

SWorkz, known for 1/8th and 1/10th off-road vehicles, are currently working on their first ever on-road kit, the CX11 1/10th scale 4WD touring car. Developed in cooperation with Speedmaster Japan the car will be of an industry-standard design with a double belt drivetrain and a carbon fibre double deck chassis. Different from most of today’s designs the CX11 features suspension hangers attached to the bulkheads rather than to the chassis with roll centre changes can be performed using composite inserts that also have an influence on toe and anti-squat settings. The steering assembly is of a floating design, attached to the floating servo mount to address tweak issues associated with chassis-mounted designs. Other features include a very slim lower chassis, low-profile shock absorbers, and ball-raced anti-roll bars. The kit is set for a Spring 2016 release and more images and information should become available in time for the release.
