Lougheed crowned Irish 1:8 Onroad Champion

2022 would see Infinity driver Graeme Lougheed crowned Ireland’s National 1:8 Onroad Champion.  The IF18/ASM Nuclear/Eirerc driver claimed the overall title following 2 victories and a second place, all three round being hosted by the ORCA Club at Ireland’s only 1:8 Onroad track in St Annes Park on the outskirts of the capital city of Dublin.  It was a tough battle between Lougheed and Austin Elliot (Shepherd Velox v8.2/Ielasi Tuned) all year with both setting blistering times and both dominating every round.  In the end it all boiled down to the last race as each driver came into the event with one win a piece. With Elliot fresh back from the European Championship, and all to play for going into the last round, it was a tough ask for Lougheed but he was able to TQ and set the fastest lap of the year to clinch the 1:8 National title.

The 2.0mm aluminium chassis is heavier than the graphite main chassis, allowing for a lower centre of gravity. The hard but moderate chassis flex characteristics are suitable for high-grip surfaces such as carpet track.

Xray RX8 Rear anti-roll bars

Following last week’s release of two new front anti-roll bars for the RX8, Xray has now released updated rear anti-roll bars for their 1:8 Onroad chassis.  Available in 2.6mm and 3.0mm options, they have a shape to match the updated bearing bushings for extra smooth movement and offer super fine tuning.  Mounting the fixed rear anti-roll bar holders without the eccentric bushing makes the down-stops easier to set.

RC Maker A800MMX Long Rear Steering Arms

Another new release from RC Maker is this latest evolution of their GeoCarbon Rear Steering Arms for the Awesomatix A800MMX which is now longer.  Representing similar geometry to that of the new AM23-R arms, these longer arms are between a normal front and rear arm in length, and aim to improve the efficiency of the active rear toe.  These longer arms numb down the toe change as the suspension compresses or unloads, which makes the car less volatile.  This can be particularly handy on bumpy or tracks with lots of elevation changes. Compared to the standard alloy arms, these are lighter, and offer more flex in the toe axis, which in many cases can give the car more traction.  The arms feature a pressed 7075 Alu M3 Threaded Insert, which allow you to directly screw ST24/ST24M/ST24L into the carbon arms.  RC Maker recommend using ST24M with these to ensure sufficient thread into the arms.  They are CNC machined from 3mm 3K Gloss Carbon Fibre, with tight tolerances to ensure perfect fit onto any version of your AM06 Hubs.

Matsukura hosts 1st Naoto Cup

It is nice to see one of the great drivers of RC racing Naoto Matsukura giving back to the sport that has served him well by hosting the 1st Naoto Cup in his native country of Japan over the weekend.  The multiple 1:12 World Champion and both Electric & Nitro Touring Car World Champion, held the race at New Next Rush Circuit in Chiba Prefecture, where he was joined by his mentor and legend of the sport Masami Hirosaka.  Masami was instrumental in bringing a very young Naoto onto the international stage as a Yokomo driver.  The first of hopefully many Naoto Cup events for years to come, after attending Naoto Cup the 14 time World Champion paid tribute to the now factory Infinity driver.
