For the first time in a number of years the blue ribbon buggy titles at the Proline Cactus Classic have gone to two different drivers with defending champion Ryan Maifield successfully retaining his 4WD title while Jared Tebo took the 2WD win, a crown he last held in 2008. In the truck classes, 4WD Short Course was also decided with Dakotah Phend wrapping up the title in the second leg of finals.

PSM introduce two new carbon fibre option parts for Team Associated’s TC6.1 touring car and the RC8.2 buggy. Starting with the TC6.1, available now is a 2mm carbon top ‘flexx’ plate. CNC-machined from PSM’s glossy fibre material the plate weights only 9g and incorporates an additional chassis post mounting position to adjust the torsional flex of the chassis if needed. The part is a direct fit on the TC6.1’s chassis. Also new is a carbon fibre radio plate for the RC8.2 nitro buggy. CNC-machined from 3mm carbon fibre that part is designed to better resist heat and to improve servo fitment. It incorporates a personal transponder mount and comes with all needed hardware such as bolts, nuts, washers and posts.

Naoto Matsukura is the Top Qualifier in 2WD Buggy at the 27th Proline Cactus Classic, the Japanese driver securing the honour thanks to his TQ runs in Q2 & 3 at SRS Raceway. Going into the fourth and final qualifier only Q1 pace setter Jared Tebo could deny the young Japanese star pole for tomorrow’s final but the Kyosho driver could only manage 5th as defending Champion Ryan Maifield posted his first TQ run finishing 2.7 seconds up on Matsukura.

The star of last night’s second round of buggy qualifying at the Proline Cactus Classic, Team Yokomo’s Naoto Matsukura backed up that performance with another TQ run in 2WD Buggy today topping the penultimate round of heats by 3-seconds from Q1 pace setter Jared Tebo and Ryan Cavalieri. In 4WD Buggy Cavalieri headed an Associated 1-2 ahead of defending champion Ryan Maifield with TLR’s Dakotah Phend completing the Top 3.

Team Associated’s Ryans, Maifield and Cavalieri, topped the third round of qualifying in the 2WD Truck classes at the 27th Proline Cactus Classic with Maifield posting his first TQ run in Mod Truck while Cavalieri, who took both Mod Truck qualifiers yesterday, went fastest in Short Course for the first time. In 4WD Short Course, Team Losi Racing’s Dakotah Phend claimed his first TQ run of the event ahead of Q2 Top Qualifier Ryan Lutz.

The set is designed for the use with all 22 based buggies and trucks and includes hardened alloy steel outdrives for greater durability, hardened and polished thrust washers, as well as high-quality diff rings for long lasting and super smooth differential action. Having notched up his first TQ run at the Proline Cactus Classic in 2WD Buggy, Naoto Matsukura appears to relish the night time conditions at SRS Raceway in Scottsdale, Arizona, with the factory Yokomo driver completing a buggy double by taking his B-Max 4 to the fastest time in 4WD ahead of Kyosho’s Jared Tebo and Q1 Top Qualifier Ryan Cavalieri. A much closer affair than 2WD, the Top 3 were separated by just 1.2 seconds with the 19-year-old Japanese ace running a time for the 5-minute qualifier that was just 3/10ths slower than Cavalieri’s Q1 time.
