Pietsch tops Day 1 at ENS

Pietsch tops Day 1 at ENS

Robert Pietsch ended Day 1 of the Euro Nitro Series in Austria as the man to beat, the Mugen driver setting the pace in controlled practice in both 1:8 and 1:10 at the Stöhr-Ring track.  In 1:8, the reigning World Champion set the pace over 3-consecutive laps from newly crowned European B Champion Daniel Sieber but it is the German’s pace in the highly competitive 1:10 class in which he was fastest from ENS Hockenheim race winner Eric Dankel that is the big news from Kirchberg.

ENS drivers compliment Stöhr-Ring track

ENS drivers compliment Stöhr-Ring track

Race 2 of the Euro Nitro Series ‘Pilot Series’ got underway today in Kirchberg, Austria, with drivers very complimentary of the Stöhr-Ring after open practice.  Set to host the 1:10 200mm European Championships in August, the ENS encounter has attracted a high quality touring car entry with many of the factory drivers taking the opportunity to use this weekend as important practice for the Euros having never been to the track before.  While no official timing was published for the open practice Mugen’s Robert Pietsch appears to be fastest but so too are ENS Hockenheim race winner Eric Dankel and former European Champion Dirk Wischnewski.  With two rounds of controlled practice set to bring Day 1 of the event to close, with each drivers 3-consecutive fastest laps being recorded, we should have a better indication of where everyone is at later today but as Wischnewski put it ‘the competition is very high’.

Xray Column – Making the XB4 Part 2

Xray Column - Making the XB4 Part 2

The 67th installment in the Xray column from Xray owner and chief designer Juraj Hudy is now online. In this months column, Juraj gives a further insight into the development of Xray’s first 1/10th electric off-road buggy, the XB4.

As soon as the design was finished we started to machine and mill all aluminum and steel parts. Meanwhile, the 3D files for all plastic parts were sent to an external company that “prints” for us the plastic parts from special polyamide which is not suitable for racing but gives us a perfect understanding of the shapes and fit of all composite parts before they are produced. As soon as all the first XB4 prototypes were produced, I personally assembled all the parts to get a feel for every single detail and also because this is one of my favorite phases of the project where we still get to play.

Revolution Design Racing Products Ultra wrenches

Revolution Design Racing Products Ultra wrenches

Revolution Design Racing Products introduced their long anticipated Ultra wrenches. The machined 7075 T6 handle allows a perfect fit to the drivers hands, without getting blistered fingers after hours of wrenching. The handle is black hard-anodised and sports the typical laser edged RDRP logo. The end cap in blue (for metric size) and red (for imperial size) indicates with a large letter the size of the wrench. The most important part of a good wrench is the wrench tip and the high grade quality spring steel tip allows for a long life span and a precise fit. A laser edged indication on the tip allows you a quick identification of the size.
