Barry Pettit wins EP Buggy at ROAR Nats warmup

As we already reported, the 2013 ROAR nationals warm up was held at Gulf Coast RC Raceway in Porter, Texas last weekend. The weekend event included the electric buggy class which provided some extra run time on the track and another opportunity for some close racing on the very high bite track. On Saturday there were three 7 minute qualifiers using rocket round to determine the starting order for the main event. Tekin driver Barry Pettit was able to qualify first by a small margin over Jake Dillinger and Tekin powered David Joor. The main started with a very close group battling for the top spot. After all of the top three swapping positions numerous times Barry Pettit was able to pull a small lead on Dillinger and finish the race in the first position. Barry was joined by Tekin teammate Brian “Smiley” Henn in 3rd.

JConcepts Reedy Sonic aluminium timing cover

JConcepts Reedy Sonic aluminium timing cover

JConcepts introduces an all new aluminium timing cover accessory for the Reedy Sonic motor. The aluminium acts as an additional heat sink transferring heat to an additional surface spreading the heat out over more area. The timing cover also has increased depth which allows more sensor wire plug protection in the event of a crash or collision. The timing cover is CNC machined, available in blue and black colors and includes upgraded hardware for installation. In addition, each cover also includes a molded sensor wire holder and hardware which routes wires in the up position which decreases possible wire snags or drop-outs which lead to unfinished races. Available in anodised blue or black.

Keisuke Fukuda wins Zac Cup race

The 1st Zac Cup race was held at the Keitune Racing Track, host of this year’s WC, last weekend. While the entry for the 1/10th class was low, the quality was there with the best drivers in Japan attending. KM Racing driver Keisuke Fukuda took the top spot in qualifying ahead of Hirano, Watanzbe and Adachi. Former World Champion Fukuda would take a comfortable win ahead of Kyosho driver Watanzbe with Hirano taking the final podium spot after KM driver Adachi flamed out in the very last minutes due to running out fuel and lost out on the podium spot, eventually finishing in 4th.
