Dylan Rodriguez wins EP Buggy class at JBRL Rd6

This past Labor Day weekend, Jimmy Babcock’s JBRL Nitro Series headed to ARC Raceway in Temecula, CA for Rd6. With little over 150 entries, it was sure to be a competitive day. In 1/8 Electric Buggy, Dylan Rodriguez of Mugen Seiki/ Proline Racing/Tekin set the TQ going into the 10min main event. Lining up 2nd was Shane Lyon with his Mugen/Proline Racing ride and 3rd was Aaron Huerta of Mugen Seiki/Proline Racing/Handle IT Hobbies. The main event was a tight race between Dylan and Aaron. Aaron taking the lead at one point for a few laps but a mistake with a few minutes to go would put Dylan back to the lead to never look back, winning by a 4 second margin. Ted Longshaw (1926 – 2011)

Ted Longshaw (1926 - 2011)

The sad news reached us yesterday evening that IFMAR founder and Hon. Life President Ted Longshaw has passed away, he was 85 years old. An RC enthusiast for as long as the sport existed, he took part in the first organised race in the UK back in 1971. It was 8 years later in 1979 following a World Championship in Switzerland that he proposed the idea of founding a World governing body to establish uniform rules across the different blocs and so the International Federation of Model Auto Racing (IFMAR) was born. Ted was appointed President and the first IFMAR World Championships was held for 1/8th on road two years later in Indianapolis in 1981. Having grown the sport over the next decade and a half, Ted stepped down from the day to day running of the federation and was appointed to the position of Honorary Life President. He continued to attend events and could be seen trackside as recently as last November’s Buggy World Championships in Pattaya, Thailand. A real trail blazer for our sport, Red RC would like to pass on our condolences to his family, friends and those close to him within the RC community.
