Fabio Ferrero wins at Mendoza State champs

Two weekends ago, the Mendoza State championship was held in the city of Mendoza, Argentina. In the standard class Vito Lanzilota claimed the pole position in front of the two Shepherd drivers Fernando Ruiz and Fabio Ferrero in 2nd and 3rd position. At he start of the main final Fabio could pass Vito, but after 4 laps Vito could re take Fabio for the 1st position again. The race was very close all the time and Fabio putted a lot of pressure on Vito, which seemed to work because after 15 minutes Vito crashed his car and Fabio could cruise to the victory. Fernando Ruiz took seconed spot, 8 laps in front of Gustavo Ruggeri.

Hartson dominance at Associated 1/8th Electric Champs

Hartson dominance at Associated 1/8th Electric Champs

Hosted by Orange County R/C Raceway in Huntington Beach, CA on April 24th, the Team Associated 1/8th Electric Championship again proved that 1/8th electric racing is alive and here to stay. Being only a one day event allowed the track to make adjustments to the program based upon entries and class breakdown. With over 65 entries and 9 heats, the program was tweaked to allow for maximum track time that included 6 minute qualifiers, B main bump-ups and 7 minute triple A mains. The highlight class of the event was Expert 1/8th Buggy and the star was Associated/Reedy/LRP’s Steven Hartson. Picking up where he left off the week before at the JBRL event, Hartson laid down the fastest qualifying time over fellow Associated/LRP teammate Ryan Cavalieri. Hartson, having found his groove with 1/8th electric over the past few months, was untouchable in the main events. Cavalieri pressured at times, but the consistency of Hartson, combined with the experience in the class, saw him easily win both A1 and A2 by 6 seconds over Cavalieri. Joining Hartson and Cavalieri in the A main for Team Associated were Brent Thielke and Chris Jarosz who both also used Reedy/LRP power.
