Toy Fair 2011 – Agama

Agama A8 Evo

Spanish Factory driver Daniel Vega was on hand at the Agama stand to run us through the full range of available option parts for the A8 Evo. The car itself remains the same but the different tuning and strengthening parts has grown. Starting from the front there is the new aluminium 10 degrees caster blocks as well as new spring steel material drive shafts and shorter diff drive cups. For the shock absorbers there is new larger shock caps to allow for more air volume while the shock shafts and pivot balls are coated in titanium nitride. The servo saver pivot posts are now available in coated aluminium for extra strength while the main drivetrain connection parts are now also available in the same material.

nVision Crankshaft revealed

nVision Crankshaft

Having written about the new nVision engines yesterday, a chance encounter with Adrien Bertin and Yannick Aigoin resulted in pictures of the newly developed and quite radical crankshaft. As you can see from the photos, the fuel enters the crankshaft as normal but is sent into the combustion chamber through the 4 holes on the crankshaft end plate. The ensures that the fuel is thrown directly up into the liner more efficiently, instead of being splashed off the back plate. We were also told that the NVB521R race spec is the only engine of the two to be announced to feature this new crankshaft.

Toy Fair 2011 – Novarossi

Novarossi Plus 4

We stopped by the Novarossi stand to be given the run through of the new additions and updates to their line of engines. While the 2010 line of engines will continue to be sold, the new additions include the Plus 4 buggy engine which features a new sleeve with a lower and newly shaped exhaust port. Also internally there is a steel plate on the back plate for reduced friction while externally and most noticeably there is an all new low centre of gravity cooling head which comes down over the top of the crankcase for better heat dissipation and as there is less material required around the bottom of the head, and because it has been strategically machined, it is very lightweight. There will also be an S version which will come supplied with a front ceramic bearing, in addition to the rear ceramic bearing that comes as standard.

While not represented in their own booth directly, nVision, the engine brand that has signed up some major drivers including Yannick Aigoin, Martin Bayer, Daniel Vega, Mike Truhe & Matt Castellano, have some presence here at the toy fair through their new distributor Kyosho Germany. We will have to wait until Saturday to get an official release and full internal shots of the engine line but we did talk to Adrien Bertin, the man charged with developing the CRF based engine, and we are now looking forward to seeing what the new brand can offer. In the meantime you will have to make do with these engine and crankshaft images, some or you may already have seen.
