Micha Widmaier sweeps Swiss 1/10th Off-road Nats Rd1

The opening round of the Swiss 1/10th Electric Off-road Nationals was held at the Mettler Arena carpet indoor track in Freienbach this past weekend. The event saw the running of a total of four electric classes and in 2WD Mod Buggy it was SWorkz’s Micha Widmaier with the overall TQ and he also came out on top after the triple A-mains, leaving behind the Xray duo of Aaron Münster and Nico Schmid in 2nd and 3rd respectively. In 4WD Mod Buggy it was again Micha who was the driver to beat as he took his second win this weekend with Kay Frehner (Xray) and Nico Schmid completing the top 3 result.

Jessica Palsson doubles at Winter Cup Rd2

Round 2 of the Swedish Winter Cup was held at the Furulund RC Club this past weekend. Swift Jessica Palsson took the overall TQ in the 2WD Buggy class from Ludwig Albertz in 2nd. The opening two A-mains then also belonged to Jessica who was able to sit out A3 due to having bagged the overall already after A2. The overall result saw Ludwig Albertz taking the overall P2 spot as Markus Jönsson and Pontus Magnusson ended the day tie on points with Markus holding the upper hand to take P3 overall. Over in 4WD Mod Buggy it was again Jessica with the overall TQ and win, leaving behind Ludwig Albertz in 2nd and Wilmer Kassai in 3rd.

Lee Martin wins at HNMC Winter Series Rd9

Round 9 of the popular Herts Nitro Model Club Winter Series was held this past weekend. In Nitro Buggy it was new Agama signing, Lee Martin with the win in the 20-minute A-main event, leaving behind Xray’s Callum Niblett in 2nd, some 13 seconds behind. Further 19 seconds back it was Agama driver Kevin Brunsden who would complete the top 3 result as Simon Reeves and Darren Hayden-Ball came in 4th and 5th respectively.

TQ & win for JC Canas at Spanish E-Buggy opener

The opening round of the Spanish 1/8th E-Buggy Nationals was held at the La Jara club this past weekend. Juan Carlos Canas (SWorkz/Maclan Racing) took the overall TQ and he also came out on top after the A-mains, leaving behind young David Todd (Mugen/Ultimate) in 2nd and Carlos Pineda (Team Associated/Reedy) in 3rd. Joan Espasa (Xray/Reds Racing) and Jaume Figuls (Team Associated/Hobbywing) would round out the top 5 results.

Juan Carlos Canas teams up with Maclan Racing

Maclan Racing have announced the signing of European 1/8th off-road frontrunner, Juan Carlos Canas to their factory team. The SWorkz factory driver will be using Maclan Racing electronics for his 2020 E-Buggy racing program that started at last weekend’s Spanish 1/8th E-Buggy nationals. Juan Carlos set a first mark by taking the TQ and wins in A1 and A2 for the overall victory and the best possible way to start with his new sponsor.

Joni & Will Skidmore sign with Mugen

Mugen Seiki Europe have announced the signing of Joni and Will Skidmore to their team. The two will campaign Mugen’s MBX8 platform at all major 1/8th off-road races across the UK and Europe and Mugen are happy to have the two onboard for this season.

Berkan Kilic wins at Fear Farm 3.0

The Danish RC Tonder club held the Fear Farm 3.0 race this past weekend, attracting drivers from Scandinavia, Germany, Poland and Denmark to battle it out in 1/8th Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. In Nitro Buggy it was Mugen’s Berkan Kilic with the overall TQ after a clean sweep and he would also come out successful after the 45-minute A-main encounter, leaving behind Xray’s Daniel Bubel in 2nd, a lap down. Kyosho’s Marcel Krüger would complete the top 3 podium result some nine seconds behind Daniel while Nikolai Lamberts lead the best of the rest in 4th, a lap short of Marcel.

X-Factory UK Winter Series Rd5 – Report

This past Saturday saw the fifth and penultimate round of the X-Factory UK Winter Series take place, with a nice break indoors away from the torrential wind and rain happening outside. A twisty, tricky and technical track greeted the racers for this round and after all four qualifiers had run it was Mark Lewis (Team Associated) who would take the TQ in the 2WD class with his round 3 time, followed by Alex Haywood (Team Associated) in 2nd who just missed out on TQ in round 4 by just over 1.5 seconds, Kevin Hunt, who was switching cars all day (Team Associated/X-Factory UK) completed the top 3 qualifying in 3rd. Richard Miller (Yokomo) was in 4th, Abe Lyons (Schumacher) was 5th and Mark Keen (Schumacher) was last man straight into the A in 6th, the remaining A-final spots would be decided as usual via the bump-ups and those who would promote from the B-final.
