Jackson Andres wins at Northwest Indoor Series Rd2

The second round of the Northwest Indoor Series, which is considered to be the largest indoor off-road series in the Pacific Northwest, was held at Tacoma RC Raceway this past weekend. In 2WD Modified Buggy Jackson Andres (Yokomo) was able to TQ round 1 and 2 of the qualifying to secure the number 1 starting spot. The mains were intense with an amazing run by all the front runners. Jackson was able to take A-mains 1 and 2 to secure the overall win as Harley Yoshii (Yokomo) and Michael Schoettler (Team Associated) rounded out the top 3 results.

Hobbywing XeRun XR10 Pro G2 Elite speed controller

UK Hobbywing distributors Schumacher have announced the release of the XeRun XR10 Pro G2 Elite brushless competition speed controller. Building on the proven XR10 Pro G2 the Elite version comes with 13AWG wires and no external switch, however the remainder of the features remain the same such as high-performance 32-bit M4 microprocessing for super-fast and precise control while built-in reverse battery polarity protection saves both the controller and battery when things are getting a bit hectic in the pits. Other proven features include greatly improved G2 hardware, software features such as a greater PWM frequency range for throttle and brake, ensuring optimised control when needed. Also part of the firmware are finer adjustable turbo increase and decrease rates as well as a 101 percent to 150 percent brake range, a feature that comes in handy when running high-turn stock motors with aggressive gear ratios. New for the G2 is also the ability to adjust motor rotation direction and the built-in BEC system offers adjustable 5V to 7.4V and 10A output. Last but not least comes a softening function that will improve vehicle control in high-power modified classes. The controller is programmable and upgradable using Hobbywing’s WiFi Express module and an iOS or Android mobile device with a more traditional programming box being also available.

Team Zombie Evo 540-class brushless motor

Team Zombie have introduced their new Evo 540-size brushless motor. It features a unique 1-piece aluminium can that covers most of the stator, however it leaves open the large alloy insulator which ensures improved overall cooling. The endbell also sports cooling openings to further improve airflow through the can especially when used in 4WD off-road classes. A new stator design optimised the power curve, making it more linear which is essential for a more connected throttle feeling. The motor weighs in at around 150g, making it not the lightest, however with modern mid-motor touring cars being in need of weight in around the electronics area, it allows to achieve a balanced weight bias easier. Other features include 2mm thick ultra-low resistance solder tabs as well as high-precision ball bearings. The motor will become available in popular stock windings such as 13.5T and 17.5T.

Mx B4R Euro Edition .21 nitro off-road engine

Coming soon from Maxima is the Mx B4R Euro Edition .21 nitro off-road engine. No official information on the engine’s specifications is available yet but the cooling head will be decorated with famous European symbols and the engine itself will be hand-modified to ensure best possible performance. We bring you full information on the new power plant as they become available.

Lewis Jones wins at HNMC Winter Series Rd4

Round 4 of the 2019/20 HNMC Winter Series was held at the Herts Nitro Model Club this past weekend. In the Nitro Buggy class it was Team Associated’s Lewis Jones who would top qualify all three qualifying rounds for the overall TQ. At the start of the 15-minute main final Lewis got tagged form behind and lost twelve seconds on the leader Karl Jackson who had the hole shot, getting from 6th to 1st by the second corner. Further down the field Lewis recovered position by position and took the lead at the fuel stop. Then slowly all of Lewis’ tyres came unglued causing issues but he held on for the win some four seconds in front of Xray’s Karl Jackson while Agama’s Kevin Brunsden came in 3rd to round out the top 3 result.

Jonathan Yeung dominates OUP Cup

The OUP Cup was held at the Hong Kong based Lali Warehouse indoor dirt track this past weekend. In the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class it was Tekno RC’s Jonathan Yeung with the overall TQ and he would also bring home the win in the 45-minute A-main event, some three laps in front of Korean Agama racer, Kevin Lee. Serpent’s Leif Leung would round out the top 3 results another lap down.

Fantom have introduced their new FR-8 Pro brushless speed controller and ICON Pro brushless motor for 1/8th scale applications. Starting with the speed controller, the FR-8 Pro features a high-performance 32-bit CPU and proprietary firmware, providing the driver with smooth throttle response, exceptional power delivery, and all the adjustable parameters that can be expected from a pro racing ESC. The 3S to 6S LiPo compatible controller is 220A rated, it features a 6V/7.4V, 8A BEC system, 10AWG wires and a 34mm fan unit with aluminium fan cover.

X-Factory UK Winter Series Rd3 – Report

The third round and midway point of the X-Factory UK Winter Series took place this past Saturday, with a good turnout in both classes. A technical and tricky track greeted the racers and once all four rounds of qualifying had concluded it was Mark Lewis (Team Associated) who would take the TQ in the 2WD class in round 4, followed by Alex Haywood (Team Associated) in 2nd, Joe Renton (Team Associated) completed the AE 1-2-3 for qualifying in 3rd, Karl Jackson (Schumacher) in 4th, Gareth Cutting (Team Associated) in 5th and Brandon Young (Team Associated) in 6th, the remaining A-final spots would be decided via the bump-ups and those who would promote from the B-final.
