2019/20 Essex Winter Series Rd2 – Report

The second round of the 2019/2020 Essex Winter Series took place this weekend at the popular indoor venue in the south-east of the UK. Elliott Harper, who had taken the TQ and overall win at the opening round of the series last month, set the initial pace in the Modified class as he topped Q1. However, he was pushed hard by Chris Grainger, who finished just four tenths of a second behind. Chris’s Team Associated team mate Matthew White took third in the round, a second and a half back on Chris, with Harley Eldridge and Kyle Branson rounding out the top five. The second round saw the top two positions unchanged, but Elliott managed to open up a two second gap this time. Harley moved her Yokomo into third place, with the Capricorns of Stefan Chodzynski and Kyle fourth and fifth. The third qualifier had Elliott as the first driver to break into the 22 lap bracket, securing pole position with his Xray. Again, Chris was second, with Kyle besting Stefan and Harley this time. Elliott made it a clean sweep of qualifying in Q4, finishing up ahead of Harley, Matthew, Kyle and Stefan.

Exotek 30mm aluminium fan shroud

Exotek have announced the release of their new 30mm aluminium touring car fan shroud. It was developed to blast the motor fan’s air directly onto and through the motor vents for a maximum cooling effect. Importantly, the shroud positions the fan about 12mm away from the motor can to help prevent the motor magnets from impeding the fan motor and the shroud’s lightweight alloy construction insures factory looks and extra durability. The shroud comes supplied with M2.5×16 screws to attach the fan to the shroud while the whole assembly is mounted using a small square of optional R/C sticky tape, right up against the motor. Not included comes the required 30mm fan.

RC Maker Montecarlo anti-tuck wing mounts

Coming from RC Maker and made for Mon-Tech Racing’s Montecarlo touring car body shell is the anti-tuck wing mounting set. 3-D-printed for a low weight and exceptional durability the mounts prevent body tucks behind the rear wheel arch during racing, as well as inconsistencies on high speed tracks and in windy conditions, causing the bodyshell to vibrate. The new V2 Lite set weighs in at only 5g for the pair, and it only requires one additional M3 screw other than the wing mounting screw to secure the strut behind the wheel arch. Using existing upper wing buttons, owners can screw directly into the strut securing it at the top whilst also securing the body’s wing, making for quick and easy body preparation.
