Protoform have released a first teaser image of their forthcoming new body shell for the competitive 1/8th scale GT on-road classes. The Hyper-SS is supposed to be a “game changer” according to Protoform with with the teaser promising a low profile design that could assist handling for both nitro and electric-powered cars. GL Racing have introduced new optionals for their GLF-1 micro formula car in the form of a brass chassis and add-on brass chassis weights. Starting with the chassis, the main plate is machined from high-quality material and it weighs in at 31g, which adds weight to the lowest possible part of the car for improved handling in high-bite or bumpy track conditions. A black surface coating prevents the chassis from corroding while gold colour logos and edge details add visual impact. Also new are two brass balance weight sets that are usable with the standard carbon fibre or the above brass chassis. Two sets are available, one with a pair of 3.5g and 4g weights each and a set with four 2g weights. They can be simply attached using small screws.
The final round of the BRCA 1/10th IC & GT8 Nationals was held at Brooklands Raceway in Kent last weekend. Despite a poor weather forecast many drivers made the trip with points and final championship places up for grabs. Saturday was wet and rainy all day with only a few drivers venturing on to the track but most preparing wet cars for race day. No rain at driver’s briefing but a damp track made qualifying interesting. Round 1 of 200mm Touring saw Mark Green take TQ with 15 laps, Matthew Cook came in 2nd and Stewart Mcleod in 3rd. In 220mm TQ Devendra Mahatme scored 14 laps with Phil Edwards and Jamie Paton behind. GT8 Q1 TQ was Christopher Slater from Gareth Bell and Craig Woods.

Coming from RC Maker are several new chassis weight options for the Awesomatix A800 touring car. First up are the Weight Shift LCG chassis weights for the front and the rear of the car. The weights help to adjust the feeling of the car as they feature three different mounting holes that allow to run them in an inner, middle or outer setting with the inward setting increasing the car’s response, offering less chassis roll while the outwards setting increases overall traction with more roll. In addition the weights can also be run at an asymmetric setting to fine-tune left-to-right weight balance. The sets also include carbon fibre shims for shimming the weight off the chassis to increase flex but the weights can also be screwed directly to the chassis without any shim to reduce flex. The Weight Shift sets are available separately for the front and the rear and they are usable with the Awesomatix A800X, EVO, MMCX, and MMX kits.
The TOS Masters 2019 was held at the Arena33 indoor carpet track in Andernach, Germany last weekend in several electric on-road classes. In the premier class of Touring Modified it was Freddy Südhoff with the overall TQ, tie on points with Lucas Urbain. The latter however had to settle for 2nd on the grid after the tie-breaker. The finals then saw Freddy taking wins in A1 and A2 for an early overall victory as Lucas cemented his overall runner-up spot with a win in the third and final A-main. Loic Jasmin would complete the top 3 result.

3Racing have introduced their new Advance 20M mid-motor electric touring car kit. Building on the previous Advance competition on-road kit the 20M features a mid-motor design for improved balance and overall quicker lap times while the new 20mm bulkhead spacing optimised the natural chassis flex compared to the previous 23mm spacing. Other features include updated suspension mount, again to optimise chassis flex and new 20T centre pulleys that allow the use of virtually every main gear brand. New 5mm lower ultra low centre of gravity shock towers round out the package. The kit will hit stores by mid-November.

Coming from Yeah Racing and made for the Traxxas 4-Tec 2.0 on-road car are ball-raced aluminium C-hubs. Machined from high-quality aluminium the hubs add rigidity and precision to the front end of the car. Bearing-supports for the steering knuckle king pins ensure smooth operation and less stress for the hubs and king pins. The hubs feature 4 degree built-in caster and they are available in blue or black anodising.

The 2019 GRC International RC Car Championship was held at the GRC Circuit in South Korea, with drivers from Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Japan and Germany in attendance. Local driver Yang E-Jun was super quick in the Touring Superstock class qualifying and ultimately he would seal the TQ on Saturday but couldn’t hold the position in the finals. After some close battles he had to settle for 2nd overall behind eventual winner, Jo Dongwan. Local racer Lim Il Kuyn had a rough qualifying and started from P5 for the finals, but managed to have some good runs in the finals to take the final spot on the podium.
