Ronald Völker TQs & wins at Mon-Tech NYGP

360v2 RC of New Rochelle, New York played host to the 2019 Mon-Tech NYGP this past weekend. The event attracted nearly 200 entries not only from the U.S. but also from Europe, making for some very competitive racing in the several 1/10th and 1/12th scale classes. In Touring Modified it was Yokomo’s Ronald Völker from Germany with the overall TQ thanks to winning three of the four qualifiers. Xray’s top Swede, Alexander Hagberg came in 2nd with a single round TQ from U.S. boy Sam Isaacs (Awesomatix) in 3rd. The A-mains then saw Ronald making a clean sweep in A1 and A2 for the early overall win from A3 winner, Sam Isaacs in 2nd. Alexander Hagberg scored 2nd place finished in A1 and A3 but suffered a DNF in A2 meaning he had to settle for 3rd overall after the tie-breaker.

RC-Lemans Series Rd6 – Report

The 6th and final round of the 2019 RC-Lemans Series was held in Velp, The Netherlands. With Timo and Rainer Schad having already secured the overall titles in the LMP1 and LMP2 classes, the race was all about the final podium spots. Practice on Saturday would be held in nice Fall weather with sun and mild temperatures making for good racing conditions. The weather for Sunday however looked less promising with showers coming during the qualifiers and the remainder of the day being run under heavy rain. The LMP1 class was held in full wet conditions and it were Andreas Dick, Reinder Wilms and Tobias Weist who would score round TQs. Ultimately it was Andy with the fastest time to take the pole position from Tobias and Reinder. Timo Schad and Peter Plümacher completed the top 5, also in the tie-breaker.

Exotek FGX Shimizu tyre adapter rings

Coming from Exotek are their new Shimizu tyre adapter rings for the 3Racing FGX foam tyre wheel sets. The all CNC-machined delrin adaptor rings allow mounting of Shimizu F104 and Tamiya TCS F104 tyres onto the FGX foam wheels. The must have for carpet and cool weather racing allows the use of softer high grip compounds on the FGX. The rings are simply glued into place on the wheels and thereafter allows perfectly true mounting of the Shimizu F104 tyres onto the wheels. The adaptor set includes four rings, usable on the front of the rear rims with two sets being needed to outfit a complete set of wheels.

Tomas Liptak wins at Austrian IC Track Nats Rd4

Round 4 of the Austrian IC Track Nationals was held at the MORAC track in Graz recently. In the 1/8th IC Track class it was Branislav Panak with the overall TQ, from Tamas Sagi 2nd and Bjan Miklozic in 3rd position. Tomas Liptak would round out the top 4 after the qualifiers. Later Branislav had to take a ten minutes timeout because of some problems with his car so he started from the back of the grid in the opening 20-minute A-main event. The win would went to Tomas after a clean run with Tamas Sagi 2nd and Branislav Panak 3rd. The second of the dual A-mains saw Tomas taking the lead some three laps onto the race and from there he never looked back to take the win with Branislav in 2nd and Tamas in 3rd place. Overall it was Tomas with the win from Tamas 2nd and Branislav in 3rd place.

MTS T3 mid-motor conversion kit

Coming soon from MTS is a mid-motor conversion kit for their T3 electric touring car. The set includes a new lower chassis plate, multi-piece motor and layshaft mount, a C-shaped centre bar to adjust chassis stiffness and included is also a reversible upper deck that allows to fine-tune the stiffness of the front or rear end of the car by flipping it around, swapping between a split and solid setting. In addition the torsional flex of the top deck is adjustable using included carbon fibre plates that help to reinforce the top plate. The set is rounded out by a new spur gear mount, front and and rear belts as well as carbon fibre battery locators.

Shepherd Velox V8.2 carbon chassis aero kit

Shepherd have announced the release of their new carbon aero kit for the chassis of their popular Velox V8.2 1/8th nitro on-road kit. The set was developed to reduce turbulences under the car, with the slicker surface making for higher top speeds. Two inserts are included in the set, a small one which is fixed with one centre screw and a longer one for the front chassis cut-out which is fixed using two screws that also allow to fine-tune the flex characteristic of the front end. The German-made carbon design set is available from now on.

KARS On-Road Championship – Report

The KARS On-Road Championship was recently held at the Icheon track in Korea with about 50 drivers in attendance. The 1/8th nitro main final was a close affair between Germany’s Andreas Giesa, 3-times Korean champion Kiyong Hong and Jaekook Yoo with the top 3 finishing within one lap. After 40 minutes Andreas saw the checkered in first position about five seconds in front of Kiyong. Jaekook completed the podium another two seconds down.

The conrods will become available from mid-November in two variants for almost all .21 Novarossi and almost all .21 O.S. Engines.
