Groskamp takes super close Q1 at ENS Finale

Jilles Groskamp claimed a super close opening qualifier at the Season Finale of the Euro Nitro Series in Ettlingen Germany.  Racing for the newly crowned champions Infinity, the 2019 1:10 Champion Teemu Leino opting to focus on 1:8 this weekend, Groskamp swapped the lead at the top of the timing screens each lap with Shepherd’s Thilo Tödtmann, with the former champion just doing enough on the final lap to take it by 0.054 of a second.  With rain on the horizon for Sunday forcing an early start to qualifying, all four rounds to be run today, behind Groskamp & Tödtmann it was practice Top Seed Melvin Diekmann who completed the Top 3, 1.3-seconds further back, just ahead of Shepherd team-mate Patrick Nähr. Second fastest in practice, Infinity’s young Dutch talent Milan Holthuis posted the 5th fastest qualifying time.

Rebellion-RC TC7.2 MM aluminium main chassis plates

Following first teaser images RC-Carbonstore from Austria have announced the soon release of their new Alu-Crossflex and Alu-Solid aluminium main chassis plates for their Team Associated TC7.2 MM Mid Motor conversion kit. The patent-pending Alu-Crossflex chassis was developed for the use in medium to high-bite traction conditions with its highly machined design allowing optimised flex characteristics that can be greatly influenced with the use of up to twelve optional brass inserts that not only add up to 47.9g of weight in the lowest area of the chassis, but they can also be used to change the overall torsional flex characteristics. The idea was to become able to adjust the weight-balance as well as the flex individually with every insert by using different fixing positions without the need of changing the whole chassis; with a standard chassis being always hard front/rear or soft front/rear, but not hard front/soft rear. When the brass inserts are fixed at a 90 degree angle to the driving direction they almost have no influence to the flex, but if attached using the remaining – cross-positioned – mounting points, the inserts decrease the flex. To make the system work the fixing points for the “hard” setting are 0,3mm lowered to make for a free movement at “flex” setting, and when using the “hard” setting drivers need to insert the included 0,3mm shims to be able to access the desired “hard” flex settings. Both the Crossflex and the standard full face Solid chassis, for high to very high bite conditions, are machined from high-quality aluminium, they come black anodised for wear and looks, feature a laser-engraved Rebellion-RC logo and they are of a conical shape, ensuring increased ground clearance and less chassis scrubbing during hard cornering. The chassis and the optional brass weight inserts are available for pre-order now and will ship from the 30th of September. Beside the TC7.2 MM main plate Rebellion-RC will soon release alloy chassis for their other MM Mid Motor conversion kits.

Patrick Fankhauser wins at Swiss IC Track Nats Rd4

The fourth round of the Swiss IC Track Nationals was held at the technical Herblingen track recently. The event kicked off with five rounds of free practice on Friday afternoon followed by Saturday’s qualifications and the super pole. Marco Rizzo was able to overall TQ the 200mm class from Patrick Fankhauser who struggled a bit in the hotter track conditions on Saturday afternoon. The weather forecast for Sunday was pretty warm again with about 29 Degrees Celsius meaning huge tyre wear. At the start of the main final Marco Rizzo, Niclas Scherer and Patrick Fankhauser pulled away from the rest of the field with Traugott Schar, who started from P6, closing in after four minutes. Unfortunately an engine issue stopped his race later. Up front the battle for the first three positions was exciting with many position changes. Patrick tried to save tyres to make a full tyre change at the 25-minutes mark in order to have the fresher tyres at the end of the race as the remainder of the field changed the tyres after 20 minutes. Niclas later also suffered engine issues with Stefan Wuthrich now in 3rd position. Up front Marco Rizzo’s pit crew made a perfect tyre change, putting Patrick under pressure. With five minutes to go Patrick however was in striking distance behind Marco who slowly ran out of tyres. 4 Minutes later he was on the rims and Patrick was able to pass him for the race win while Stefan finished in 3rd place.

Vortex Racing MP1 RX-10SR mid pulley conversion kit

Spanish company Vortex Racing has announced the soon release of their MP1 mid pulley conversion kit for the Destiny RX-10SR 4WD touring car kit. Using the conversion will provide a car that is very easy to drive, that is more consistent, and that carries more speed through the corner, all while offering equal traction front and rear which is helpful especially when running modified motors. The designs focused on the overall flex of the symmetrical chassis and top deck, giving multiple options for different track conditions. The main chassis also accepts both standard and shorty-sized packs only by moving the battery mounts. The conversion utilises a small one-side mono-block motor mount with separate pulley shaft to make it lightweight while allowing to keep the motor close to the centre line. Also, in case a pulley bearing fails and damages the shaft, there is no need to replace the hole motor mount. In addition the servo mount was designed to provide options for weight balancing the car by moving the servo back/forth and left/right. The front and rear chassis stiffeners also allow control the overall chassis flex. The conversion kit is available for pre-order now by emailing Vortex Racing at info@vortex-racing.net.
