Tom Robin wins French 1/8th Buggy finale

The TSAR track near Toulouse played host to last weekend’s final round of the French 1/8th Nitro Buggy Championship. The race for the overall TQ was a very entertaining one with three different top qualifiers in four rounds. Ultimately it was TLR’s Renaud Savoya with the overall and he would also start from pole position into the 45-minute A-main event. In the opening lap however Renaud made a mistake, leaving Team Associated’s Tom Robin as well as Xray’s Yannick and Jerome Aigoin battling for the lead. Savoya eventually recovered to take the top spot again only to run in mechanical issues in the later stages of the race that cost him a lap. From there he suffered with pace which allowed Tom Robin to take the lead in the closing stages and to take the win from Jerome and Yannick. Renaud ended the race on the 4 spot which was enough for him to take the overall championship title.

Kyosho RB7 lightweight body shell

Coming from Kyosho and made for the Ultimate RB7 2WD buggy is a new lightweight body shell. Offering the same design as the standard kit shell, the lightweight variant is pulled from 0.6mm thin high-quality polycarbonate, making it 8g lighter than standard. Using the body will lower the overall centre of gravity which comes in handy especially on high grip surfaces where more crisp cornering can be achieved.

Xray have introduced the 2019 variant of their IFMAR World Championship winning XB4 1/10th 4WD buggy platform. In the drivetrain department the 2019 variant sports new diff outdrives that match with the 2.5mm drive pins for smoother operation. All-new bevel drive gears machined from special gear steel material reduce the weight and significantly improves reliability while the central shaft universal joints were redesigned to accommodate the new steel pinion gears. Last but not least comes a new graphite reinforcement plate between the servo saver for increased traction and improved cornering speed, a newly-shaped body makes the car more stable and improves the rotation in corners and the included new rear wheels sport a deeper recess for the wheel nuts.
