Team Raffee TRX-4 HD steel centre driveshafts

Coming from Team Raffee are new HD steel centre driveshafts for the Traxxas TRX-4 off-road truck. The heavy duty telescopic-design shafts offer greatly improved strength thanks to their all-metal steel and aluminium construction. They come as complete set including front and rear centre shafts and they feature red alloy cross pin retainers and laser-etched TRC logos for looks.

T-Works 1/8th & 1/10th off-road car stand

T-Works have introduced their new car stand for 1/8th and 1/10th scale off-road vehicles. An all-metal construction the car stand is 85mm tall and it features a 80mm x 120mm platform, covered with two foam strips that prevent the chassis from sliding around. A total of eight machined sections take shock absorbers during refilling and engraved markings ensure they do not get mixed up. Machined T-Works logos on the sides both add visual impact and lower the overall weight for more convenient carrying.

R1 Wurks AE 6.1 laydown fan shroud

Coming from R1 Wurks are their new laydown fan shrouds for Team Associated’s 6.1 series of off-road vehicles. Specifically developed the fan mounts are a drop fit foe the specific vehicle with a highly efficient 3-D-printed captured cooling body ensuring maximised cooling which is crucial especially for stock racing classes. The pre-assembled units utilise 30mm low-profile cooling fans and they weigh in at 18g. Available are a B6.1 laydown, T6.1 layback and T6.1 laydown configurations.

Monaco RC Diff Check differential hardness tester

Monaco RC have introduced their new Diff Check device that helps to measure the hardness of gear differentials. The handy device allows to measure the diff setting, ensuring consistent hardness after building, maintenance or setup. Two adapters, a standard 7mm nut driver for 1/10th scale on-road and off-road vehicles as well as an 1/8th off-road and GT-specific 17mm adapter allow to use the diff checker with a wide range of vehicles and with the diff staying inside the car. It is understood that by leaving away the adapter diffs can also be checked directly by simply connecting one diff outdrive with the diff check hub. The device, that comes in a high-quality zipped bag, is powered using a standard 2S LiPo battery and an large LC display allows for easy recognition of the measured value.

Max Gotzl doubles at Czech Open finale

The final round of 2018 Czech Open Series was held last weekend at the popular Horni Jeleni track. Max Gotzl showed a fast pace from the get to, taking a double TQ in the Nitro and Electric 1/8th Buggy classes. In Nitro Tomas Kapicka and Jiri Mara came in 2nd and 3rd respectively, in E-Buggy it was Vaclav Broz in 2nd and Petr Tomasek in 3rd. After a straight forward win in his semifinal Max Gotzl (Xray) would also take the pole position for the Nitro A-main and right from the start the young man opened a gap on the field that he would be able to manage until the end to take his first overall victory of the weekend. Jiri Benes (Xray) came in 2nd while Tomas Kapicka (Kyosho) rounded out the top 3.

Callum Niblett wins at HNMC Winter Series Rd1

The opening round of the HNMC Winter Series was held this past weekend at the Herts Nitro Model Club in the UK. Lewis Jones (Team Associated) took the overall Nitro Buggy TQ in front of Kevin Brunsden (SWorkz) and Callum Niblett (Agama). The 20-minute main final then saw a change of events as it had Callum Niblett holding the upper hand who took the win a lap in front of Kevin Brundsen as Lewis Jones rounded out the podium result in 3rd.

Tom Robin wins rain-affected Pierrefeu GP

The annual Grand Prix de Pierrefeu was held this past weekend and it was Team Associated’s Tom Robin with the top qualifier position after the qualifiers with his RC-Concept-powered ride. However due to heavy rain the finals had to be cancelled, meaning the overall ranking was based on the qualifying results meaning Tom would take the win from Xray/Ultimate’s Yannick Aigoin in 2nd and Team Associated/Ultimate’s Maxime Noble on the 3 spot.

Australian 1/10th EP Off-road Titles – Report

The 2018 Australian Nationals was held at the Adelaide Raceway in South Australia, with over 150 entries racing on the beautifully prepared outdoor clay track in perfect sunny weather conditions. Racers came from all around the country to the first national title in Adelaide for over 20 years. Seven official classes were offered including 2WD and 4WD Modified, 2WD and 4WD 17.5, 2WD Junior 17.5, Stadium Truck and SCT. For 2018 a demo class of 13.5T 4WD was run, which will replace 4WD 17.5 in 2019. In 2WD Modified Chris Sturdy was the defending champ and he was too good for the rest of the field, taking out all four qualifiers for TQ and then winning A1 and A2 with his AE buggy to take his 6th National Title. Ray Munday (Team Associated) qualified 2nd and took A3 for 2nd overall, with Adelaide privateer (Team Associated) Jack McMillan driving impressively for 3rd overall after pushing Sturdy very hard in A1 and A2. Notably in this final, three drivers under 14 years old made the A-main – Lachlan Donnelly, Lachlan Munday and Jordan Isergin – with Donnelly finishing 4th, showing the junior racer program in Australia is paying dividends.
