Capricorn TE04 190mm electric touring car kit

Coming soon from Capricorn is the new TE04 190mm electric touring car kit. Built on the solid foundation of the TE03, the car was designed with the intent of spending less time in the pits and utilising track time to the maximum to find the small details that will help pro and novice racer alike improve their performance on the track. Starting with new suspension mounts and precision quick change roll centre adjustment shims, the new design will allow racers to quickly make precise changes to find that optimal setup. Built into the split suspension mounts are additional holes for a carbon brace to further tune the grip and feel of the TE04. There is also the option of the bulkhead to bulkhead standoff to further tune the chassis stiffness. The new split mounts also offer a further inboard mounting position for the ATS ball stud giving the optional system a more consistent and linear feel from the rear of the car. The new upper bulkheads and camber brackets also are able to be shimmed with new precision quick change shims for finding that optimal camber link length or matching any track width change. With a new concept for the motor mount to servo mount brace, the TE04 uses a unique carbon stiffener with adjustable column position to further tune the stiffness and response from the centre brace allowing the racer to fine tune the feel exactly to their liking or to better keep up with changing track conditions.

Tamiya 1/14 Buggyra Fat Fox TT-01 Type-E race truck

The next in the line of Tamiya’s popular TT-01 Type-E-based race trucks is the Buggyra Fat Fox kit. This model recreates the Buggyra Racing Fat Fox piloted in the 2018 season of the European truck racing circuit by 2017 champion Adam Lacko. The realistic body is a 3-piece set made from lightweight and durable polycarbonate, with separately moulded plastic side mirrors, coupler and rear bumper parts. The TT-01 Type-E chassis is a proven performer, and this chassis is fitted with dedicated semi-truck wheels and tyres for the model. The bathtub frame of the evolved shaft-driven 4WD TT-01 Type-E has its motor and battery close to the ground for lower centre of gravity and optimum balance. Mounted on the bathtub frame is a fibreglass reinforced nylon upper deck and gear covers improving rigidity, as well as a 3-piece tie rod providing a smoother steering action. The low center of gravity, great balanced design, 4-wheel double wishbone suspension system, and front and rear differential gears all come together to produce excellent operating ability. 70mm-diameter radial tires are paired with wheels developed just for this model; the high sidewalls make for forgiving turns. The kit will hit stores very soon.

Sobue & Rathiesky complete the double double

Akio Sobue put in a dominant performance in what was mostly a precessional race in the Sweep Modified class at TRC this afternoon. Never really challenged, the Japanese driver was able to pull clear of the chasing pack early on and build up a substantial lead by the end. Behind, Nicholas Lee had what can be described a lonely race in 2nd. While Jin Sawada and a very fast starting Jan Ratheisky, starting in 8th, had a good battle for 4th. That battle would become for 3rd as just ahead Andy Moore had a big moment coming onto the main straight and stuffed it into the wall on the main straight but somehow only lost 2 positions and was able to bring it home in 5th. Jin could stay in front of the German to take the final step on the podium with Jan finishing in 4th.
