Meen Vejrak TQs & wins at EastRC Invitational

The 2018 EastRC Invitational was held at the EastRC Speedway in Jakarta, Indonesia this past weekend. The race attracted regional racers as well as guests from Thailand, Singapore and any other cities of Indonesia. The 2-day race saw five qualifying rounds and triple finals and it was run in the four classes of Touring Car, Front Wheel Drive, M-Chassis and Dancing Rider and in the premier Touring class it was Meen Vejrak with the TQ and new track record after the five hard-fought qualifiers in which Charlee Phutiyotin, Dominic Quek and Bowie Ginting all scored round TQs. The opening A-main then was a really close and tight one as the top 4 went away from the field to fight for the lead. In the end Meen, Charlee and Bowie finished within less than a second of each other. A2 almost delivered the same story before Charlee and Dominic made contact, which let Meen and Bowie fight for the lead. Meen finally secured the overall win after winning A2, 0.4 seconds ahead of Bowie and five seconds clear of Surikarn who recovered from 7th. With Meen sitting out A3, it would be the decisive round for the remaining podium spots. Dominic passed Charlee to spread some gap while Izzah made a full use of his new tyres to pass Bowie for 2nd place.

Akio Sobue will start from pole position in round 4 of the OneTen series having taking his 2nd TQ run of the day. Nicholas Lee will start from 2nd position, the Yokomo driver tying on points with Andy Moore but having the faster time thanks to his Q3 run. Q2 goes to Andy Moore

Andy Moore has TQd the 2nd round of qualifying at the OneTen series in Hong Kong, the Infinity driver heading home Nicholas Lee, Jan Ratheisky and Felix Law, the top 4 all deciding to run one of their new sets of Sweep tires for this round. Jin Sawada was quickest of the drivers who decided to use old tires, team mate Akio Sobue ending in 9th having run 2 run old tires. With the knowledge of his team mates running old tires Andy Moore bolted one of his 2 remaining fresh sets, the result being that he now has a 1st and a 2nd and at a minimum will give him a 3rd on the grid, saying he doesn’t believe he can produce a better result in the remaining two rounds.

Sobue opens up Rd4 in Hong Kong with TQ

Round 4 of the OneTen series presented by Infinity kicked off early this morning with one round of controlled practice followed by the first of 4 rounds of 4 minute qualifiers which will determine the grid for this afternoon’s single 8-minute A-main. Akio Sobue was again the pace setter this morning, running the fastest lap of the first rounds of qualifying to take a 3 seconds advantage over Infinity team mates Andy Moore and Jin Sawada. Hay Lai would take 4th for the round driving his Xpress with Serpent driver Felix Law fastest of those running in the 2nd fastest heat, in 5th. Running on new tires for Q1 Sobue knew that with Nicholas Lee on old tires he had to put in a safe run, the Yokomo driver having saved one more of the 5 allocated tires than the Japanese driver. Continuing to run his Infinity IF14 unchanged since yesterday, Akio, like all his competitors, are now playing the tire strategy game with all drivers expected to keep one new set for the single 8 minute main.
