Yokomo YRX-12 2019 Edition 1/12th pan car kit

Coming soon from Yokomo is their YRX-12 2019 Edition 1/12th scale pan car kit. Next year’s edition will feature a new front suspension design that allows either a king pin or coil suspension option to be used and it builds on a newly designed aluminium main chassis that is included as standard in the kit. The chassis comes strategically milled to provide a lower centre of gravity and an optimised torsional flex which is needed for high-grip circuits to prevent traction rolls. The steering response has been improved by moving the centre damper forward and in combination with the increased rear traction, a minimum of steering angle is needed to guide the car through the corners, resulting in an overall improved balance. The front body mount has also been moved further forward in order to provide better body support especially at high speed. In addition the body mounts are now mounted on a separate graphite plate on top of the main chassis to reduces chassis scrub when cornering and to improve speed and provide smoother turning. The 2019 kit will ship from end of August and should hit stores soon after.

The Norwegian National 1/10 IC Track Championship was held at the Valdres track last weekend. The track is known as one of the most beautiful and challenging tracks in Norway with its 4 meter elevation differences and tight turns. Anders Mikkelsen started from the 3rd position into the A-main and right after the start Mikkelsen got up to 2nd and chased down the leader for the next six minutes before he managed to get by to take over the lead. The 2018 IFMAR Electric On-road World Championships are held in Welkom, South Africa this week, hosted by the amazing Welkom RC Arena. The facility was built especially for the event and it is a true world-class one. The event kicked off with the 1/12th scale classes with an open Modified and supporting Stock 13.5T class being run at the event. Unfortunately only 29 entries were received for both categories, giving the feeling of a club race event with international participation. Despite the very low turnout racing was tight, however in the Modified it was Xray’s Alexander Hagberg who stood out by making a clean sweep in qualifying to take an easy overall TQ from Morotech’s Hideo Kitazawa and Xray’s Florian Joos.
