Kurzbuch & Leino top seeding at ENS

…who also was unable to improve on the time he set in CP1. Last year’s race runner-up Toni Gruber will be seeded 5th ahead of Silvio Hächler with Jeffrey Rietveld being the only other driver in the Top 10 to improve his time in CP2 ending up 7th fastest. In 1:10 Leino was able to remain at the top as he had done in free practice. Topping both his runs, the Finn’s closest challenger was again team-mate Jilles Groskamp with Shepherd’s Melvin Diekmann stepping into the Top 3. Dario Balestri takes EFRA 1/8th IC Track title

…then went in Simon’s favour who took the win to start from 2nd into the 45-minute A-main encounter with Simon being able to build up pressure on his rival Dario right from the start. The lead changed several times and the fair duel between the permanent rivals lasted until the very last lap. After 45 minutes Dario won by just a few car lengths in front of Simon making this European Championship final one of the most exciting ones. Coelho again in Q2

…clock would come from Urbain and Alexander Hagberg but with a fastest lap 2/10ths up on everyone else the reigning Champion always had a decent margin in hand. For a time Ronald Volker looked on target for another Top 3 until he suffered a mechanical just after the 2-minute mark while on his second set of tyres. It would be Hagberg who would complete the Top 3 5/100th off Urbain after he got stuck behind Jilles Groskamp for a number of laps towards the end of the heat. Coelho takes opening qualifier at ETS

…Xray driver fastest from the dominant force in practice Freddy Sudhoff. Starting behind the top seed after team-mate & No. 2 seed Alexander Hagberg opted to sit out Q1, Coelho was able to take advantage of mistakes from both Sudhoff and his Awesomatix team-mate Lucas Urbain to take a slightly surprise TQ run given Sudhoff’s advantage in practice. Having seeded 8th, Ronald Volker was to complete the Top 3 ahead of Yokomo team-mates Christopher Krapp and Nicholas Lee with Urbain rounding out the Top 6 from Jilles Groskamp. Völker & Mächler win at TOS West Division Rd5

Round 5 of the Tonisport Onroad Series West Division was held at the AMCA Apeldoorn track in The Netherlands last weekend. The event was held in Touring Car, FWD and Formula classes and it attracted a high-class field with many drivers trying to get some laps under their belt in preparation of the forthcoming ETS round that will be held at the iconic facility at the end of June. In the ultra-fast Touring Modified class it was Yokomo’s Ronald Völker with the overall TQ from Awesomatix’s Lucas Urbain. Infinity’s Jilles Groskamp came in 3rd after the qualifiers. Leino leads early qualifying at ENS

With qualifying getting away over 4 hours later than planned, due to unexpected rain on Saturday morning, it was Teemu Leino who set the pace in the first round of qualifying for the 1/10th scale class, edging out team mate Jilles Groskamp by seven tenths of a second. Top seed from practice, Leo Arnold was matching pace with Groskamp for the majority of the four minute qualifier, until a mistake on the final lap saw him roll his Xray off the track. Leo Arnold Top Seed at Dutch ENS

Leo Arnold will carry the number one on his car throughout tomorrow’s four scheduled rounds of qualifying here in the Netherlands. The French driver’s time just held off a late charge from Jilles Groskamp, who ended up four hundredths of a second slower over the three lap times with his Infinity team mates Teemu Leino and Milan Holthuis putting in the third and fourth best times, and Thilo Todtmann rounding out the top five.
