Welcome to the new Red RC

Welcome the new Red RC

Red RC is pleased to introduce our all new website for 2009. Over 4 months in the planning stages, and following some super human efforts by Ruben d’Arco to get the site done, we now have a new product review and articles section as well as an updated look and faster loading times. As well as the new site, we have also taken some new people on board, Sebastian Suerstedt, formerly of RC Car & Fun (Racer Germany), will be handling the bulk of our product reviews, while Oisin O’Briain who you know from our live event coverage will be overseeing our articles section.

Currently we are only at the beginning with our new sections, but already have some great new content. We expect to have 2 – 3 new product reviews, and up to 2 new articles a week, as well as our usual daily news.

As the site is still new you may happen upon some bugs, if so then please report them to us and we will get straight onto fixing them.

New Kids on the Block

Listening to the news one would be forgiven for thinking 2009 is going to be a year with little to look forward to. During the off season Formula One was shocked by the news that the Honda F1 team would be no more, while the World Rallying Championship took a hammering with the loss of the iconic Subaru team and Suzuki. The r/c industry will not escape the knock on of the world’s current economic downturn but its not going to be all doom and gloom, at least not for fans of 1:10 onroad nitro.

Team Associated SC10 truck update

Team Associated have given us another sneak peak of their SC10 that we wrote about last week. Although already presumed with the name, the car has now been confirmed as a 1/10th scale chassis and as we can see, it is another CORR series style truck.

Tommy Bergfeldt takes MSEC Rd3

We received a report from the third round of the MSEC 08-09, held in Eskilstuna on the same layout as the Friendship race last December. DHI Cup winner Tommy Bergfeldt took TQ in Modified and won all of the triple A-mains, finishing ahead of Edwin Sunesson, who was the only driver who could reach Tommy in the finals. In Stock it was young Markus Elmerfors that took the TQ and went on to win all A-mains, impressive as usual to see Markus drive even under the hardest of pressure. The 1:12th scale saw an even race between Mackan Göransson, Magnus Hedlund and Maxx Rosén and a few more with Mackan G took a surprising win. Per-Erik Nordman was the one to beat in offroad, with very steady driving he won the first 2 finals.

Vita Tuning MBX-6 Active Caster system

Vita Tuning have produced their Active Caster system for the Mugen MBX-6. Made from machined aluminium, this 2 piece system allows the racer to adjust the original upper wishbone angle by +3 or +6 degrees. Doing this means that the car can be stable at high speeds but give steering when needed at slow speeds, making the car less nervous and easier to drive.

Awesomatix thinking way outside the box

During the World Championships in Thailand we got talking to the Russian designer of the new Awesomatix touring car and we showed you the first CAD image of the car. Now the team behind the car have released full details about this new concept and puts to rest the queries we had about how exactly everything worked. Going against the trend in current touring car design they have utilized many unique features, including some patented innovations, all designed to improve the handling characteristics. The two outstanding features of this car are a new patented suspension dampening system, smooth, lightweight and with a low centre of gravity. The dampening system is fully adjustable without the need for disassembly and the compression and rebound dampening rates are controllable and consistent. The other thing is the drive train that combines the benefits of shaft and belt drive systems, without the negative side effects such as so-called ‘torque steer’, associated with shaft drive RC cars. These two properties have allowed them to incorporate many other innovations that are not obvious upon initial inspection.
