Berkan Kilic wins at North German regionals Rd2

The Braunschweig track near Hanover played host to the second round of the North German 1/8th Off-road regionals this past weekend. The track was pretty challenging with its natural clay surface and a lot of small holes and most of the drivers already showed up on Saturday to make maximum use of the practice time. After the 20-minute semi finals on Sunday it was Berkan Kilic (Agama) with the TQ from Burak Kilic (Agama) on the 2 spot and Phillip Guschel (Xray) starting from P3. In the opening stages of the 40-minute A-main final Burak was able to get past Berkan and he even slightly separated from the field until he ran into mechanical issues that promoted Berkan into the lead again that he would hold onto until the checkered flag. Marcel Paul (Kyosho) would obtain the 2nd spot from Phillip Guschl 3rd. However as the latter was only a guest starter it was Ilias Reise (Agama) who would round out the podium result.

The 2018 Philippine Masters was held at the Circulo Verde Race Track in Quezon City, Philippines over the weekend, attracting many World-class 1/8th off-road drivers from all over the planet. The nitro 1/8-scale event contests only buggies and truggies – no Sportsman, or other classes. In the one-hour Buggy final, it was Mugen Seiki’s Robert Batlle who put up a fierce early battle with Ronnefalk who was battling for the lead from his P3 position. The two drove clean and changed places often, but Batlle didn’t seem to have the same speed that carried him to TQ. Whether it was engine power, tire choice or other variable, Batlle just couldn’t hold his earlier lines and mistakes started to plague him sending him down the list of drivers.

Daniel Grobe wins at Thornhill Championship Series Rd4

Round 4 of the Thornhill Championship Series was held recently at the Thornhill Racing Circuit in Hutto, Texas. After having some issues in round one and two of E-Truggy qualifying it was Daniel Grobe who got together a brilliant drive in Q3 to secure the overall TQ with the only 9-lap run of the class. For the double A-mains, Daniel would get a clean start in A1, but an early mistake dropped him to 2nd as in turn Jason Hill made a mistake and Daniel got by, where he would control the pace, not push the truck to much, and would take the win. In A2, Daniel got off to a clean start again with no mistakes and he didn’t want to throw away a win, or crash hard, as Jason again made a mistake and he would over drive to chase Daniel down. Up front Daniel took another win for the overall as Jason Hill came in 2nd and Isaac Price ended the day in 3rd.
