Mibosport Cup 2013/14 Rd2 – Report

After a one month break the second round of the Mibosport Cup 2013/14 was held in Hrotovice last weekend. A total of 128 drivers signed up for the event with 70 drivers attending in the on-road and 58 in the off-road classes. The touring car modified class was quite a balanced affair. Kuba Šimurda (Xray) took TQ with Radek Flek (Yokomo) sitting only 6/10th behind him. Young Polish driver, Michal Orlowski (Team Durango) came in third. All of the three A-finals then had exactly the same scenario, Kuba Šimurda had brilliant starts and was facing the pressure of Radek Flek and Michal Orlowski in every leg. In the end, he was only controlling his rivals behind him and won all three A-finals. Radek Flek scored two second places handing him the overall second place followed by Michal Orlowski.

Tresrey Off-Road Race Rd13 – Report

Round 13 of the Tresrey Off-Raod Race was held last weekend at the Twin Ring Honguu in Toyokawa-city, Japan. The track recently received a new astro turf surface and the event marked the first Tresrey race on the newly re-made track. 49 drivers attended in the 2WD class with 39 participants in 4WD. Tresrey driver Kenji Tsuruta (Team Durango) won the 4WD class with Akihiro Kubota in second and Katsuya Hori in third place. In the 2WD class it was Hidetoshi Matsuda (TLR22) who won the race, Kouji Uchiyama came in second place and Hideyuki Iwase completed the podium in third.

Micha Widmaier joins Schumacher CS electronic team

Schumacher Racing have welcomed young up and coming German driver Micha Widmaier to the Schumacher CS electronic team. Micha recently finished 7th at the ‘Indoor Dirt Race’ near Munich piloting his CAT K1 against a strong field of most of the best drivers in Germany confirming himself as an exciting prospect for the future.

Eric Albano doubles at Turkey Dash

A Main Hobbies recently hosted its 2013 Turkey Dash at their indoor track, Outback Raceway in Chico, California. With over 120 entries from across Northern California, the race held out a promise of great racing in all classes. Qualifying started a little differently this year with three rocket-round, heads-up qualifiers. Team Associated’s Eric Albano and Brian Strange both showed their speed, going 1 and 2 into the mains. Strange took the TQ in 4WD Modified and Albano took the TQ in 2WD Modified.

Jerome Sartel wins 2013 Merlin Race

The Merlin Race 2013 took place at the Cartt track in Madrid, host of the 2014 Euros B. Over 135 drivers attended the race that also marked the track reopening and that was one of the biggest races in Spain in the recent years. After qualifying Miguel Matias (TLR) took TQ and in the finals the fight was on between Miguel, Jerome Sartel, Ricardo Monteiro and Daniel Vega until the very last laps. At the end Jerome Sartel (Agama) came in first some 16 seconds in front of Miguel Matias who was hardly chased by Ricardo Monteiro (TLR) who finished less that half a second behind Matias. Daniel Vega (Agama) completed the top 4 only another four seconds behind Ricardo.

Ryan Maifield signs new long-term contract with JConcepts

Ryan Maifield, the current Dirt Nitro Challenge 1/8th buggy champion, ROAR National Champion, double Indoor National Series champion and 1/10th Off-road Worlds podium driver has signed a new contract with JConcepts. Since 2005, the speedy Arizona based driver and JConcepts have formed a dynamic duo in the world of radio control racing. JConcepts has delivered performance driven products and together with Ryan’s speed and stamp of approval, the duo has accomplished what few others have. Ryan’s ability to dominate a hot new off-road class of competition or being able to excel at the legendary classes such as 1/10th and 1/8th off-road make Ryan a threat at any event in the world. 2nd annual Gun Smoke Classic – Report

Inland Empire R/C played host for the 2nd Annual Gun Smoke Classic. With over 270 entries and 37 heats, the race was well attended by racers from across the Southwest. Qualifying got underway Saturday with three rounds of rocket-round qualifying that lasted from 9am past 9pm. When the final tone sounded it was Team Associated’s Steven Hartson who dominated qualifying by taking the TQ in 2WD Modified, 4WD Modified and 1:8 Electric. Sunday morning brought about the lower main events where the top two finishers from each lower main advanced to the next main. The highlight here was Nick Wautlet, who bumped all the way from the 2WD Expert Modified Buggy D main to the A main event. As the A mains got underway, the track continued to evolve and challenge the racers to choose the best combination of tire and additive.

Patrick Hofer extends with Team Associated & Reedy

Team Associated and Reedy announce that multi-time Swiss national champion Patrick Hofer has signed a contract extension that will see him using Reedy LiPo batteries, Sonic motors, and Reedy nitro engines in his Team Associated vehicles through 2014. Patrick recently capped off a fine 2013 season by winning the Swiss 4WD National Championship and finishing in the top 25 at the IFMAR World Championships. Team Associated and Reedy look forward to working with Patrick as he seeks to repeat his 2013 success in 2014.
