Thomas Desmaries switches to Shepherd for 2010

Front running French racer Thomas Desmaries will use the Shepherd Velox V10 for the upcoming season. The 2008 and 2009 French Cup winner will help the local distributor WDS Racing Products promoting the brand new Velox V10 in the competitive national championship. Thomas had the following to say:

I really enjoy to join the new French Shepherd/WDS racing team for this season 2010. I will do my best to win the Championship title this year, and i’ll try to win the French Cup the third time in a row. Also I’m sure with an innovative car like the V10 I’ll have a good result at the World this year, and I’m eager to start the season with my new Velox.

Jason Schreffler dominates 13.5 Rubber at Birds

Tekin are reporting on the recent Snowbirds event that saw their team driver Jason Schreffler TQ and dominate the 13.5 Rubber TC class, the hottest class at this year’s event which was filled by some of the toughest, fastest and most competitive TC racers in the World. Jason’s Tekin / TOP / Thunder Power car was on a mission all weekend and even managed to qualify 7th in the Mod Rubber TC class running a 10.5. Fellow Tekin racer Brad Johnson also won the 17.5 Rubber TC class closely followed by TQ Jeff Cuffs who was less than 1.5 seconds behind him, with Jeff also TQ’ing the heavily contested 17.5 GTP class.

2010 Much-More UK GP Series - Announcement

Much-More Racing UK are pleased to announce their 2010 GP race will take in 3 venues this year, covering Scotland, Northern Ireland and England. The first round of the series will be held on 28-30 May at the superb Stonehaven track near Aberdeen. Following last year’s success in Northern Ireland, round 2 is again at the Ballymoney circuit on 9-11 July. The final round, on 13-15 August will be at Carlisle making the choice of English venue easily accessible to racers attending the first two rounds. The GP meetings have brought together racers from all around the world and delivered some of the closest racing ever seen in the UK. The 2010 series will be the best yet. Andy Moore, Chris Grainger, Elliott Harper and Olly Jefferies have all taken the GP title in previous years. With the best 3 out of 3 rounds to determine the Series Champion in 2010, competition will be fierce to determine the winner of the Much-More UK Cup. Capricorn RC to fuel Sara Bella

Italian company Capricorn RC have announced that they have signed 14 year old Sara Bella. Racing 1/8th scale in the F2 class in Italy, the Shepherd/Novarossi race will use Capricorn fuel this year. Very determined and racing in one of the most competitive series in the World, she will continue to compete in the Italian Nationals as well as represent Italy at the 1/8th scale European ‘B’ Championships in Monaco during the summer.

Malaysian National Championships Rd1 report

It was perfect conditions here at the 1st Round of the hotly contested annual Malaysian National Championship held at the Taman Titiwangsa International Track organised by RCAC. This is the first stop out of the 4 rounds held throughout Malaysia and what a way to start it off by having it held right in the Capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. It was a huge turnout with more than 50 drivers participating in the event which includes 1/10th 200mm ‘Expert’ and ‘Novice’ class and 1/8th Scale. Weather and track conditions perfect, drivers and pit crews eager to start off the race and not forgetting the spectators which was slowly building up at the track.

We have been contact by the organisers of the Union Square Grand Prix, an exciting high profile event that takes place in the atrium of the new Union Square shopping complex in Aberdeen over the weekend of 17th/18th April. The event offers a unique promotional opportunity to race in front of a large public audience and entry will be open to 1:12 and 1:10 touring car. Hupo Honigl doubles up at Snowbirds

At the 2010 Snowbird Nationals in Orlando, Florida, Hupo Hönigl continued his hot streak that started in Vegas in September 09. Hupo was Top Qualifier in both the 1:12th 10.5 class and the 1:10th WGT class with his CRC rides. In the hotly contested World GT class, Hupo took his CRC Gen-X 10 right off the track from his win in Cleveland and continued his victorious ways in Orlando. Hupo won every round of qualifying and the main for a dominant victory. Joining Hupo on the podium was 2nd place qualifier Brian Wynn. Brian took his Advanced powered Gen-X 10 to the front setting quick times all weekend. In 1:12th 10.5, Hupo used his CRC Gen-XL 1/12th car complete with CRC Pro Cut tires to cut up the competition again. Joining Hupo on the podium was Dutch driver Jilles Groskamp.

Walter Salemi joins Motonica

Walter Salemi joins Motonica

Top Italian driver Walter Salemi has completed a deal that will see him move to Italian manufacturer Motonica for 2010. Completing a 2 year deal, the former Mugen driver has also switched to Max Power for his engines, ZAC Project for tires and MLC for fuel. The multiple World Championship finalist and former European Vice Champion will compete at this year’s Italian Nationals as well as the European 1/8th scale Championships that will take place this year in his home country.
