Blackstock & Cyrul take Novak race wins

Blackstock & Cyrul take Novak race wins

RC Car Action have a brief report from last weekends US Touring Car Championships, an all brushless event run by Scotty Ernst. In the foam 10.5-turn and Modified classes, it was a two man show between Mike Blackstock and Josh Cyrul. Corally’s Blackstock set the TQ in both classes with this RDX Phi and looked untouchable, but Josh Cyrul with his custom built sedan won the 10.5-turn A1 and A2 mains to take the overall win. In the Modified class it was all she wrote when Blackstock took the early lead and checked out in both the A1 and A2-mains to claim the championship.

Robson takes Rd3 at CML Carpet Masters

The 3rd round of the CML Carpet Masters series was run last weekend and it was Andrew Robson with his Novak powered Associated TC5 that took the pole position with a fantastic run in the final round of qualifying ahead of local ace Adam Meakin in 2nd with Craig Drescher in 3rd. The first final saw a few collisions early on which allowed Craig to make his way to the front with Andrew chasing in 2nd and Alan Bickerstaff 3rd, which was how it remained for the rest of the race. The 2nd final saw a very close early battle between Andrew, Adam and Craig. Craig got passed Adam and chased after Andrew, finally squeezing passed in the centre of the track, however Craig grip rolled only 3 corners later putting him back in the pack allowing Andrew to drive on to a commanding victory which gave him the overall round win.

Rick V joins JP Racing

We recently heard the unconfirmed report that top Dutch International racer and Mugen team driver Rick V has followed in the footsteps of his American counterpart Mike Swauger and joined JP Racing for the 2008 season. Although currently unconfirmed, Rick had had a difficult World Championship in Argentina when he could only manage a place in the 1/8th final, a bad result for a multiple European finalist and World semi finalist. Rick returns to the French assembled JP Racing motors, the powerplant that helped him make a name for himself before moving over to use GRP motors when they were initially released. We will let you know further details when the deal is confirmed.

BRCA 1/12th Nationals Round 4

 BRCA 1/12th Nationals Round 4

The 4th round of the BRCA 1/12th scale Nationals was held last weekend at the Tamworth track and in qualifying for Saturday’s 19T turn event it was Chris Kerswell that claimed the TQ spot ahead of Andy Griffiths in 2nd. In the final, a coming together at the start knocked Griffiths out of contention and Mick Farrell took off after the then leader Kerswell and eventually got passed, but he too fell out of contention and this left Keith Robertson to come from 5th on the grid to take the win. In the modified class there were no surprises with Andy Griffiths taking the TQ and in the final he managed pull away and take the win, giving him his 4th in a row and enabling him to wrap up the modified title with his HB Cyclone 12.

Mike Swauger joins JP Racing

Mike Swauger joins JP Racing

Top US Mugen racer, and multiple Winternats winner, Mike Swauger has been in touch to let us know that he has signed to JP Racing for the 2008 season. Previously running with the Ninja engine, Mike failed to shine at this years World Championships and his results there may have had a big influence on his choice of power plant for next year. On leaving the GRP made motor, Mike has also left behind GRP tyres and so negotiations are still ongoing to secure a tire sponsor for the new year. Since signing to the French manufacturer at the beginning of December Swauger has gone on to win the recently held Toys for Tots race at Crystal Park, an event which he also TQ’d and set a new track record.
