Chris Grainger wins Rd1 of BRCA Mod Nats

Last weekend saw the first round of the BRCA modified championships take place at the Stafford track. Qualifying saw World Champion Andy Moore, driving for Hot Bodies, take the pole position ahead of 2nd place Chris Grainger, driving for Yokomo, and Craig Drescher, with the pre production Associated TC5 in 3rd.

In the first final it was a clean win for Moore who finished just ahead of Xray racer Ben Cosgrove with Grainger in 3rd while in the 2nd final Moore had a coming together with Grainger, which saw Grainger knocked back to 3rd behind Moore and Drescher. Just as Drescher was gearing up for a pass on Moore, the HB driver lost drive gifting Drescher the top spot and win in front of Grainger and Jefferies in 2nd and 3rd respectively. These results compiled gave Yokomo racer Chris Grainger the round 1 win ahead of Xray driver Ben Cosgrove in 2nd and HB racer Olly Jefferies in 3rd.

Also present running at the event was the 27 Turn class which was won by Jimmy Maddison driving the TOP Scythe with Luke Hobson in 2nd and Andrew Twigger in 3rd.

John Sotiropoulos wins Rd2 of 2007 1/8th Greek Nats

Serpent are reporting on their teams victory at last weekends round 2 of the Greek 1/8th Nationals. Qualifying his Mega MF powered 960 on pole, round 1 winner, Giannis Sotiropoulos was in full control of proceedings winning the 30 minute encounter from team-mate Mimis Papadopoulos in 2nd with Kyosho driver Leonidas Farmakis in 3rd.

Racer in the Spotlight – Robin D’hondt

Continuing their Racer in the Spotlight series, Serpent have interviewed last weekends Belgian Nationals winner, and 2006 European A Finalist, Robin d’Hondt. Robin has achieved a lot in his short time racing and despite a restricted race program this year, due to school commitments, he will take part in this years European Championships in Lostallo Switzerland as well as competing in his National Championship against team mate Steven Cuypers. As with all driver interviews it gives you a nice insight into the person, so check it out.

Robin D’hondt wins Rd1 of Belgian 1/8th Nationals

Serpent are reporting on their latest success at the opening round of the Belgian 1/8th scale Nationals that took place last weekend at the Houthalen track. In qualifying it was Serpent Team driver Steven Cuypers who secured the TQ spot from D’hondt for a Serpent 960 1-2 with Gunther van Staey in 3rd. In the half hour final it was D’hondt who came out on top as Cuypers hit trouble to take the victory by 2 laps from Gunther van Staey with Eric Vandereyt in 3rd a lap back on van Staey.

Stephane Bouche wins Rd2 of French 1/8th Nats

The second round of the French Nationals were held last weekend at the Besancon track, one of the oldest in France. The race was well attended with 65 drivers, split between Elite and National classes, and as with all racing last weekend in Europe the competitors were greeted with glorious sunshine. In qualifying for the Eilte class it was Mugen racer, and round 1 winner, Nicolas Guillot that claimed the top qualifying spot ahead of the Kyosho pairing of Sebastian Zatla and Adrien Siegfried in 2nd and 3rd repectively.

In the Elite main final Stephane Bouche quickly made his way to the front with pole man Guillot slotting into second followed by Siegfried, up until he lost his second gear which dropped him down to 6th. Laurent Zatla also ran into trouble losing his belt which meant that Marc Pomponio could move into 3rd and that was how it finished with Bouche taking the win by 1 lap in front of Guillot with Pomponio a further 7 laps back. In the National class it was Serpent racer Gerald Colinet that took the win, by 1 lap ahead of Mugen racer Dominique Lichtle while 3rd position went Sylvain Tolomelli, also driving for Serpent.

Geisendorf wins Rd1 of Swiss 1/8th Nats

The past weekend saw the opening round of the Swiss 1/8th scale championships take place in Aigle, in the French part of Switzerland. In qualifying it was Serpent racer Markus Geisendorf that took the TQ spot, 2 seconds ahead of Kyosho racer Loris Pierroz with the only Motonica driver Mattia Pesenti in 3rd, less than 2 seconds further back. In the 45 minute race it was Geisendorf all the way, going on to win by a lap and a half ahead of Mugen racer Petros Diamantogiannis in 2nd with Motonica racer Pesenti in 3rd. In the Plus 38 class, held for racers that qualified 39th and lower, it was a win for Mugen racer Morier Jean-Claude who finished ahead of 2nd placed Stapf Alex also driving Mugen with 3rd position going to Serpent racer Henzi Leopold.

Steen Graversen joins Kyosho

Steen Graversen joins Kyosho

According to a report on RC Zone, Danish driver Steen Graverson has left Tamiya to race for Kyosho Japan. The European Championship finalist and multiple Danish National Champion has left Tamiya after many successful years with the company and will have his first race for Kyosho at the upcoming LRP Masters, the last big indoor race of the season that takes place on April 27th -29th in Eppelheim, near Heidelberg in Germany.

J-B Arnaldi wins Rd2 French 1/10th 200mm Nationals

Rd2 French 1/10th 200mm Nationals

Last weekend, saw the 2nd round of the 1/10th 200mm Nationals held at the high speed Louvier track, 120km from Paris. In qualifying for the Elite class it B-A Arnaldi, driving a Kyosho V-One RRR Evo, that claimed the top qualfiying sport ahead of 2nd placed Mugen racer Desmarie. In the race itself B-A Arnaldi ran into trouble dropping him back to his eventual finishing position of 4th place, while his brother J-B Arnaldi took the lead and with it the win, to lead home a Kyosho 1-2 with Sebsatian Wartelle in 2nd, while Desmarie ended the race in 3rd. In the National class it was another Kyosho clean sweep with J-F Defie taking the win, from the pole position, ahead of A Buyer and J-P Michel, who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.
