Coelho leads way in 1st timed practice at ENS Luxembourg

Bruno Coelho has set the pace in the first of the two timed practices at the penultimate round of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Luxembourg. Last year’s race winner posted the fastest 3-laps ahead of Jilles Groskamp stretching his advantage over the Dutch driver, the pair more evenly match in the morning’s untimed practice. Behind them it was local hero Lucas Urbain who would complete the Top 3 with a time 1/1000th of a second faster than defending champion Ronald Volker. A crucial weekend in the three way title battle, it wasn’t a great start to the weekend for Marc Rheinard as he found himself only 10th fastest over 1.4-seconds off points leader Coelho.

Helder Silva successful at Portuguese TC Nats Rd4

Round four of the Portuguese Touring Stock 10.5T National Championship was recently held in the city of Coimbra. After winning three of the four qualifying rounds, Fred Santos (Xray) would take the pole position for the triple A-mains. A1 then had Capricorn’s Helder Silva coming out fastest after a last lap crash with a spinning car causing trouble for Fred. In A2 and after some position swaps with Fred, it was again Helder who came out in front to take the day’s win early. In the third and final A-main again bad luck stroke for Fred who was still able to take the overall runner-up spot behind Helder. Schumacher driver Jorge Chalupa completed the top 3 result.

Rigert & Asendorf win at Swiss EP On-road Nats Rd3

The famous Lostallo track played host to round three of the Swiss electric on-road nationals. As usual with the current European Summer, parts of the race were held in wet conditions. After a partly rain soaked qualifying, Michele Manzo would place his car on the 1 spot in the Touring Modified class, from Huber, Isler, Rigert and Krähemann. At the end Mario Rigert (Xray) would take the overall win after coming out fastest in A1 and A3. Oliver Krähemann (Xray) grabbed the runner-up spot while Philipp Huber (Team Durango) had to settle for third.

ETS hits 50 as Coelho LUX for title success

The penultimate round of the Euro Touring Series travels to Luxembourg this weekend (23-25 June) and to one of the most unique circuits in the world. With its famous Laguna Seca corkscrew section, Mini Circuit ‘Ville de Luxembourg’, plays host to the ETS for a third time as the race marks the 50th race in the world famous championship’s history. While marking a significant milestone for series founders Uwe Rehinard and Scotty Ernst, on track all the attention will be on the three way driver/manufacturer on track battle for the Season #9 Volante Modified title. Securing victory at the previous round which marked the start of the outdoor half of the season, it is Bruno Coelho who leads the way coming into the weekend. Last year the large track proved a very happy hunting ground for the Xray star as it was where he would claim his first ever win of the high profile championship and a win this Sunday evening would see him crowned only the fourth different champion of the ETS.

Marc Fischer joins Capricorn

Marc Fischer joins Capricorn

Capricorn have announced the signing of former Serpent racer Marc Fischer to drive the brand’s LAB TE03 for the rest of the season, which includes the World Championships taking place in Beijing in August. The German, who is making his race debut for his new sponsor at this weekend’s 5th round of the Euro Touring Series in Luxembourg said for 2017 we may also see him racing the Italian company’s gas powered vehicles at select events.

Loran Whiting teams up with Serpent

Serpent have announced the signing of female U.S. racer, Loran Whiting to their team. Loran will focus on 1/10th scale nitro and electric racing but she will also campaign Serpent’s 1/8th on-road cars and 1/10th buggies at selected events. The former Capricorn racer had the following to say about the deal:

 I am incredibly lucky and thankful to be given the opportunity to race with Serpent. They are a world-class company with a great team. Xray develop XB8 GT 1/8th nitro GT car

Xray are currently developing a XB8-based 1/8th GT nitro on-road car. The prototype already made a first public appearance at the recent EFRA 1/8th GT Euros where the car finished on the runner-up spot in the hands of Fabio Callegari, behind new European Champion Toni Santana Yanes. No official images are available yet beside a couple of body-on podium photos. We bring you more information as soon as they surface.

Alessio Menicucci wins Italian Outdoor Modified TC title

The recent 2016 UISP Italian National Outdoor Championship was held at the Ca’ de Mandorli track in San Lazzaro di Savena, Italy. Unsteady weather conditions made things pretty eventful and in the Touring Modified class, it was Xray’s Alessio Menicucci who made the best out of the conditions, taking the TQ from Mattia Collina (Xray) and Michele Romagnoli (WRC). After the A-main, the top 3 results would remain the same with Alessio taking the win and the title from runner-up, Mattia with Michele completing the podium result in third. Thanks to the good results Xray also became the manufacturer champion in the Modified class.
