Over the course of late Fall 2014 through late Winter 2015, the Gravity RC All-Star Series was held at The Track at Harbor Hobbies, the premier carpet track in Northeast Illinois. Multiple classes were run, and drivers from Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan made the trip, including Gravity RC’s Paul Lemieux as the title sponsor for the series. Gravity G-Spec Type C pre-mounted carpet tires were the spec tire for Stock Touring, and the Gravity USGT pre-glued tires were spec for the USGT class. USVTA ran the tires specified by the class rules. Racing was tight in all three of the competitive classes throughout each weekend. Points were awarded across five races throughout the Series, with the best 4 out of 5 points going toward a total to crown each class Champion.

The third round of the BRCA GT National Series was held at the Killamarsh Sports Centre and was hosted by the SWIFTS club. The club set out a well-conceived track layout which included a flowing infield and a long straight, which required some serious thought by the drivers when deciding what gear ratio to run. In GT12 the field was joined by a couple of experienced LMP12 drivers, for their first taste of GT12 National racing, who were hoping to qualify in the A-final. This was no mean feat for them, as the standard of driving at the top end was highly competitive and qualifying times were extremely close. In fact throughout the field, there were some very close battles in qualifying and the finals.

Matrix Racing Tires confirm the signing of Chinese/American top driver JJ Wang to their 2015 factory team. Racing for Mugen and Novarossi in Nitro 1/8th scale and 1/10th scale classes, the 17-years old is a former Chinese National Champion in both classes and he is backed by a successful 2014 season when he managed to bring home a top 5 finish at the 200mm Worlds in Thailand and a very respectable 15th place at the 1/10th Electric Touring Car Worlds held in Florida.

Shepherd have announced that Oliver Mack will be a part of the company’s factory team for another year. The former World Championship finalist, European Champion and multiple German Champion had a great 1/8th scale campaign in 2014 by finishing the ENS in 3rd position overall. 2015 will be Oliver’s 7th season for Team Shepherd and he plans to attend the German Championship, the European Championship in Ettlingen, selected ENS events and the World Championship in Brazil. Oliver had the following to say:
First of all I would like to thank Team Shepherd for the long and successfully time we have already had. I’m really looking forward to racing another great season in this nice team. Last weekend we hit the track the first time for this year and the laptimes and feeling with the Velox V8 “EC” 2015 were very promising for the upcoming season.

Hosted at the MACH track in Heemstede, The Netherlands, host of the 2012 IFMAR Worlds, the International Dutch F1 Masters will be held from the 3rd to the 5th of April. Open to racers of Formula cars of all skill levels, the fun race will see free practice on Friday followed by controlled practice and 3 rounds of qualifying on Saturday with a final qualifier and triple finals on Sunday. A great opportunity to practice prior to the ETS in Italy the following week, there will also be a raffle on Saturday evening which is a great opportunity to win prizes. Round 3 of the British Indoor National Championships was held at the Swift Raceway in South Yorkshire last weekend. Mark Green (Serpent) took the overall TQ in the Formula class and in the A-final he lead all the way from his pole position on the grid and managed to win the A-main from Mark Burgess (CRC) and Dave Underwood (Xray) who rounded out the podium. The final round will be held at Chesterfield on Sunday 26th April.

The final round of the Essex Winter Series took place this weekend. With both championships up for grabs in the UK’s most popular on-road championship, the finale promised to be a fitting end to a great season. In the Zen Racing Modified class, Stefan Chodzynski had one hand on the title, with his Capricorn team-mate Kyle Branson needing to take a maximum points haul, and Stefan to struggle at this final meeting, for the title to go any other way. In the VBC Super Stock standings, Jimmy Maddison needed to TQ and Win the meeting to prevent Tony Broad taking his first EWS title.
