CRC braces for Gen-Xi, XL, X10 & X10LE

CRC braces for Gen-Xi, XL, X10 & X10LE

New from CRC is a batch of products designed to make your Gen-Xi, XL, X10 and X10LE more adjustable, rigid, strong and true. CRC has a line of carbon fibre front end braces for both 1:12th and 1:10th Gen-X cars. For the 1:12th car, there are 2 different braces, the wide brace for the short arm and the narrow brace for the long front end arms. In addition to an increase in stability, the brace keeps the front end aligned in big crashes. Finally there is extended rear shock mount top plates for the Gen-Xi. The new Gen-Xi features optional rear shock positions and you can utilize these positions by lengthening the shock. Or these new extended rear top plates can be used to move the rear shock forward in .25 inch and .5 inch increments. Typically, when the rear shock is mounted more forward, more mid and exit steering is achieved. It is a quick simple change that can be done to alter the handling of the car. Sold as a set of 2. With .25 inch and .5 inch movement that matches the hole pattern on the Xi.

SpeedMerchant Gen-XL in-line conversion kit

SpeedMerchant Gen-XL in-line conversion kit

Having received many requests to make an in-line conversion for the CRC Gen-XL, SpeedMerchant have now released that kit. Much like their Xray 12th conversion, this kit allows you to mount the battery in-line on the left or right side, or across the back like normal, but with more for/aft adjustability than stock. When drawing up the conversion, it quickly became apparent that the cleanest, easiest and strongest design would be to box in the rear pod with a new Top Plate, and give the car a full length tweak brace. This allows the battery to sit further back in the chassis and stiffens the rear end of the car. By adding a matching motor/pod plate on the left side they really strengthened the rear pod area which increases durability as well as helping your rear axle stay perfectly aligned after a misadventure with an immovable object. They have also added mounting holes so you can adjust shock length for finer on track tuning. The kit comes with almost everything you need to convert your CRC Gen-XL, including main chassis, tweak brace, top plate and two battery brace/shock mounts as well as SpeedMerchant linear tweak spring set, stand-offs, ball-studs and all the required hardware to complete the conversion.

CRC Spur gears, top plate & camber gauges

CRC Spur gears, top plate & camber gauges

CRC have released a number of new products starting with these new molder spur gears. The new spur gears use a 16 ball design to increase contact surface so your diff nut requires less tension to keep the diff from slipping. Less tension on the diff parts means more racing and less rebuilding. These new gears also use 3/32″ balls rather than 1/8″ to keep the rotating weight down and not sacrifice punch by adding the extra balls. Available in 76, 80, 88 and 96T. Also new is the rear top plate which closes in the rear pod, making for a stiffer, stronger pod. This does add some weight as you will have to replace the micro left bulkhead with another motor plate, but is especially helpful in modified where the extreme horsepower can cause some flex. This also makes the rear bottom plate more resistant to breakage during crashes. Finally there are new carbon fiber camber gauges that allow you to quickly and accurately set your camber. Works on 12th and 10th scale cars with measurements from 0.5 to 3.0 in 0.5 increments.

Simo Ahoniemi joins Team CRC

Simo Ahoniemi joins Team CRC

Calandra Racing Concepts is happy to report a great new addition to the European race team, Finnish racing star, Simo Ahoniemi. The 2004 European Champ will use the full CRC race package; CRC Gen-XL 1:12th car, Pro Cut tires and Maxxcell Lipo battery pack. This season, Simo will attend the 2011 Euro’s in France as well as competing in the Finnish Nationals and other large events. Good luck to the new CRC Ace pilot. After a few practice sessions,  Simo reports;

I have done my first test with CRC car and first impression is very good. Compared to the past, I have lots of rear traction. In the past, I have to be always very carefully not to steer too much into to corner. With CRC I can go much faster to the corners without loosing rear grip. I am very satisfied about the car performance. I can see lot of potential!

In his very first event running CRC, Simo dominated the first round of the Finnish Nationals with a T.Q. and wins in all 3 A-finals. Taking second at the event was Simo’s good friend and countryman, Teemu Saarinen. They dominated qualifying and the finals with a 1-2 effort over a very talented field. Joining the top 2 in the A-final was another CRC driver, Tony Raikas.
