Infinity IFB8 Buggy platform Option Parts

Having released its first electric 1:8 Buggy, the IFB8 EV, at the start of the week, Infinity has introduced two new option parts designed for both the nitro and electric variants of the platform in the form of Ackermann plates and rear wing mounting nuts. The new -1 Steering Plates give further adjustment of the Ackermann. Switching from the kit-standard steering plates expands the range of available setup options. The red finish Aluminium Wing Fixed Nuts replaces the standard M3 locknut and makes removal and installation of the rear wing easier. For the electric IFB8 EV, Infinity has also introduced 15T and 17T pinion gears to allow racers adjust the final drive ratio and further optimise the power delivery according to track layout and driving conditions.

Infinity IF14 Speciale 1.5mm Alu Chassis

Infinity has released this optional 1.5mm aluminium chassis for its IF14 Speciale 1:10 Electric Touring Car.  It is designed to provide increased rigidity and a different handling balance compared to the standard configuration.  The chassis is combined together with a dedicated stainless steel screw kit, featuring special thin flat screws specifically designed to ensure optimal tightening and a perfect fit with the chassis geometry.  Also included in the new options are lower suspension arm balls, allowing the suspension arms to be mounted closer to the ground.  This solution offers additional setup flexibility and helps optimise the car’s handling characteristics.  For convenience, the stainless steel screws are also available separately as individual spare parts.

Infinity IFB8 EV 1:8 Electric Buggy

Infinity has released their electric evolution of the IFB8 1:8 Buggy platform, the IFB8 EV.  Built on their proven IFB8 drivetrain and suspension, the eBuggy has been developed through extensive prototype testing and real-world race competition.  Data-driven refinement has led to a precisely optimised layout and weight balance, delivering explosive acceleration and razor-sharp cornering performance unique to the electric platform.  With compatibility across a wide range of IFB8 option parts, the platform also offers limitless customisation — allowing drivers to tailor performance, handling, and character to their exact preferences.  Key features of the IFB8 EV Kit include a newly designed main chassis and newly designed centre differential mount and motor mount.  The mount allow easy adjustment of the backlash between the pinion gear and spur gear.  The centre differential can also be replaced and maintained with ease.  Other new parts are a newly designed servo saver arm, new front steering brace, new designed servo tray, and new designed battery tray.  This CFRP construction has adjustable front-to-rear positioning for short and mid-size batteries, enabling weight balance adjustment according to the driver’s preference.

The Direct Drive Experiment by Jilles Groskamp

This has the potential to break the internet as touring car racers dissect every aspect of his creation but credit to Jilles Groskamp for this super interesting build he has called ‘The Direct Drive Experiment’.  A driver renowned for his technical knowledge and attention to detail in developing car set-ups, having been a kingpin in the glory days of the Tamiya Racing Factory team, the IFMAR World Champion has created a very special Infinity IF14 Speciale that no longer features a drivetrain!  Instead the Cayote electronics sponsored driver has fitted the car with four in-wheel drone 1400Kv motors with independent control of each using a micro controllers.  Putting the car through its paces at his home track the MACH in the Netherlands, where he won his 2012 ISTC World Championship, could the reigning Nitro Touring Car World Champion be onto something and have just created the future direction for electric touring car design?  Watch his video of the experiment here.

Coelho grabs Q4 at TITC, all to play for in final qualifier

Bruno Coelho has grabbed a TQ run in the penultimate round of qualifying at the TITC, the Infinity driver ending the dominance of defending Champion Michal Orlowski at the Bangkok classic.  With the heats reseeded for Day 2 of qualifying, it was Orlowski who took all three of yesterday’s qualifiers who led away followed by Coelho and new to the top heat Akio Sobue.  With it looking like it was going to be more of the same from Orlowski once things settled down, a super strong finish from Coelho would see the World Champion grab the TQ by 16/100ths of a second from his biggest touring car rival – the large crowd showing their appreciation for the run in anticipation of the showdown his performance has created for the ‘Happy Hour’ final qualifier.  Putting together some impressive runs from the second fastest heat yesterday, joining the top heat Sobue would improve his counting runs by setting the third fastest time ahead of Awesomatix pairing Marc Rheinard and Simon Lauter.  In Open Brushless we would see the potential for a qualifying clean sweep also disappear.  Having made a slow start to the heat, overnight TQ holder Lukas Ellerbrock would get caught up in another drivers incident and end up with an 18.4-second lap, his fastest of the run being a 14.862.  Up front it was Thai Xray driver Natthawat Rungcharat who took the round TQ ahead of the Awesomatix’s Olivier Bultynck and Xpress’ Mongkolphan Lomrose.
