Picco R1 Team WC2017 3.5cc nitro on-road engine

Picco Micromotori have introduced the latest addition to their on-road engine range, the R1 Team DLC WC2017. The power plant is a limited edition run, tested on the 2017 Worlds track and featuring a different cylinder with updated timing that increases the bottom power to better suit the challenging French circuit. The engine is easily recognised by a new engraved cooling head, specially designed and dedicated to the event and maintaining the size of the standard version to obtain a low centre of gravity. As with the standard R1 Team version, the crankcase sports a designing concept that ensures more stable performance throughout a wider temperature range and thanks to its improved stiffness it is immune to any RPM loss caused by unwanted torsion. The WC2017 also shares the same double bottom-end adjustment carburettor for finer tuning and a better mixture flow. The crankshaft features DLC coating that prevents any oxidation and wear of the crankpin and the engine comes fitted with a ceramic ball bearing and a 7-port sleeve paired with a piston machined from high silicon material.

Picco V1 Race & V1 Star nitro off-road engines

Coming from Picco are the new V1 Race and V1 Star intro off-road engines. Starting with the Race engine, the power plant shares many design features with the higher-ranked Team engine such as a 5-port cylinder and long stroke design in combination with a new, stiffer crankcase but the Race edition sports a slightly different exhaust port that leads to a different power response. With the only other differences from the higher end version being a steel rear bearing instead of the ceramic one and a non DLC-coated crankshaft, the V1 Race addresses all levels of racing. The engine also features the new double bottom-end adjustment carburettor that allows for a finer tuning.

Picco V1 & R1 3.5cc competition nitro engines

Picco V1 & R1 3.5cc competition nitro engines

Picco have introduced their new high-end competition nitro engines in the form of the V1 Team DLC CER off-road and R1 Team DLC CER on-road engine. Starting with the off-road power plant, the V1 is the brand’s new top-of-the-foodchain engine and already achieved the Italian National Championship title in prototype stages in the hands of Marco Baruffolo. The engine features a new crankcase that is designed to be stiffer so that the absence of torsion allows for a more stable performance at any temperature while preventing RPM loss. On top of a 5-port sleeve, the V1 also features a longer stroke and a new crankshaft that received a DLC-coating treatment to ensure a very low crankpin wear while protecting the shaft from oxidations of any kind for a long life of the part. The carburettor now sports a double bottom-end adjustment for finer tuning and a better mixture flow, and the engine’s main bearing is of a high-quality ceramic type.
