Roche Rapide F1 2.25mm carbon fibre chassis

Roche Rapide F1 2.25mm carbon fibre chassis

Roche have introduced two new option parts for the Rapide F1 formula car. First up is the new low-traction carbon fibre chassis cut from 2.25mm material and best used on slippery asphalt tracks. The chassis was tested by Roche’s Olivier Bultynck at the recent fourth round of the ETS and it is complemented by the second new part, a suitable 2.25mm carbon fibre lower pod plate. The latter is necessary to achieve a properly aligned power pod when running the 2.25mm main chassis plate.

Roche introduce new Rapide F1-2016 option parts

Roche introduce new Rapide F1-2016 option parts

Roche have introduced two new option parts for the Rapide F1-2016 1/10th formula car. First up is the short aluminium front standoff set for the use with smaller diameter tyres. The 11.8mm standoffs in combination with the 0.5mm spacers allow to run proper ride height settings when using somewhat smaller tyres that would reduce the ground clearance too much with the kit’s parts. The set includes four aluminium front A-arm standoffs and four 0.5mm shims. The second new part is a graphite front brace that allows to fine-tune the stiffness of the front end. It connects the lower A-arms and makes for a more rigid setting that leads to a more stable car.

Roche Rapide P12-2016 1/12th pan car kit

Roche Rapide P12-2016 1/12th pan car kit

Roche have introduced the 2016 edition of their P12 1/12th scale pan car kit. Based off of the previous P12 the 2016 car comes with a range of updates such as a 2.5mm carbon fibre chassis and a new floating servo mount with fully adjustable servo position. Also new are the upper and lower motor pod plates for optimised chassis balance and the kit also comes with a new 7075 aluminium rear chassis brace mount, selectable battery plate positions, and a new O-ring battery mount. Other features include redesigned aluminium front lower arm tubes for countersunk screws, new and adjustable centre shock positions as well as a new centre damper shock cap, a new front bumper and reinforced 4.3mm aluminium ballstuds.

Roche Rapide F1 aluminium chassis & pod plate

Roche Rapide F1 aluminium chassis & pod plate

Coming from Roche and made for their Rapide F1-16 formula car are an aluminium main chassis and lower pod plate. Both parts are machined from 7075-T6 aluminium, they come gun metal anodised and are made to reduce the chassis flex for improved performance and a more stable and easier to drive car on medium to high-bite tracks. Both parts are available separately and they become available by end of April.

Roche Rapide F1-2016 1/10th formula kit

Roche Rapide F1-2016 1/10th formula kit

Roche have introduced the Rapide F1-2016 1/10th formula kit. The car is based on a narrow design 2.5mm high-grade carbon fibre chassis to reduce chassis scrub in corners and it also features a front suspension system made up of 2.5mm carbon parts that allow to adjust the caster angle in a range of 3 degree up to 12 degree. The front end also allows the easy adjustment of the camber angle and steering Ackermann while incorporating an aluminium servo mount that can be used in a floating and fixed design. Other features include low friction pivot balls and ball studs, and polished kingpins. The chassis allows to run the battery pack in an inline or transversal position, and the kit includes a 7075 aluminium rear motor pod that utilises rear axle mounts with ride height spacers and the option to run the rear axle in +/-1mm forward or backward positions. The kit is rounded out by a highly precise ball differential with 5mm thrust bearing, clamp-type wheel adapter and a steel main shaft.

Roche introduce new Rapide P12 option parts

Roche introduce new Rapide P12 option parts

Roche have new option parts for the Rapide P12 1/12th scale pan car available. First up is a floating steering servo conversion kit. Developed and tested by Roche factory driver Naoto Matsukura, the conversion makes for a centralised servo mounting position to achieve equal left and right flex characteristics. Furthermore the servo’s position can be centred, allowing to use a wide range of servo sizes without having to worry about different length steering links. On top of that the servo can also be mounted hanging to the left or right to achieve the best possible weight distribution. All graphite parts are cut from USA-made carbon fibre and using the chassis makes for more stability while the car is also easier to drive. Beside the chassis and servo mount the conversion also includes a new aluminium damper top cover that allows to mount the centre shock in three different forward or rear positions.

Roche Rapide F1-2016 formula car kit

Roche Rapide F1-2016 formula car kit

Following a first teaser Roche now have more images and information of their forthcoming Rapide F1-2016 formula car kit available. The car utilises a narrow 2.5mm carbon fibre chassis with a newly designed floating side link mount whose higher mounting position, compared to standard designs, helping to reduce chassis overhang, increasing ground clearance during hard cornering and thus reducing performance-hurting chassis scrub. The front suspension is made up using a carbon fibre double wishbone construction with adjustable caster while hard-coated aluminium pivot balls make for a lightweight yet friction-less operation. Part of the front end is also an aluminium servo mount that can be used in a floating or a fixed setting to manipulate chassis flex, allowing to adapt overall flex to the track conditions. The combined battery and shock mount supports both transversal and inline battery mounting and the included shock absorber is of a big bore type for best possible rear traction on a range of surfaces. The kit is rounded out by an aluminium rear pod construction with a height-adjustable rear axle using shims, the included ball differential is making use of a 16-ball Xenon Racing spur gear and the diff is equipped with a 5mm thrust bearing for smooth operation.

Roche Rapide F1 Formula pan car – Teaser image

Roche Rapide F1 1/10th Formula pan car

Roche have released a first teaser image of their forthcoming Rapide F1 1/10th scale formula pan car kit. The vehicle is in its final development stages and set for a release in January 2016. Nothing is known yet in terms of specifications and features but the image available that shows a somewhat “industry standard” front end, utilising double carbon fibre arms, a single bellcrank steering system and a floating aluminium servo mount. We bring you more details and images as soon as they become available.
