Smokem XQ1 split lower aluminium bulkheads

Available soon from Smokem are new lower split design aluminium bulkheads for the Xpress XQ1. Offering vastly improved flex characteristics, the parts allow the car to generate improved grip while offering a wider tuning window. Another key difference to the stock bulkheads is the use of flanged bearings for mounting the swaybars to the bulkheads. This allows the bearings to be inserted from the centre of the car for easier installation and smoother operation. The bulkheads will be available as a complete set of four with bearings included as well as separately, and they suit both the standard XQ1 and mid-pulley converted XQ1.

Smokem T4’15 IIX carbon fibre chassis

Smokem T4'15 IIX carbon fibre chassis

With the recent release of the updated Xray T4’15, Smokem Racing has now released an updated IIX chassis for this popular electric touring car. Made from their proprietary Pro-Weave 100 percent carbon fibre construction, which is stiffer than a conventional weave, yet softer than a quasi weave, the 2.0mm thick chassis material allows to lower the overall centre of gravity for optimum response and corner speed. Flex is also improved to deliver greater traction over a wider range of track conditions and temperatures. The chassis’ contoured shape was developed through an extensive prototype and testing phase, the result of which saw significant gains in high speed steering and transitional response. Furthermore, the differential and spur gear openings are closed off to further enhance flex characteristics and improve airflow on the bottom of the chassis.

Smokem Racing D06-IIX chassis

Smokem Racing D06-IIX chassis

Smokem Racing has introduced the D06-IIX chassis and top deck for the VBC Wildfire D06. Using their proprietary “Pro-Weave” 100 percent carbon fibre construction, a specially developed 2.0mm thick chassis material that is stiffer than conventional weave but softer than a quasi weave, the D06-IIX chassis features a contoured design that delivers a perfect combination of increased flex and lower centre of gravity. Furthermore, the differential and spur gear openings have been closed off to further enhance flex characteristics and improve airflow on the bottom of the chassis. The result of these design enhancements is improved cornering speed over a wider range of track conditions and temperatures. Through extensive development and testing, Smokem has managed to improve the high speed steering and transitional response with the D06-IIX design. The performance of this chassis and top deck combination was proven by team driver Ryan Maker’s TQ run at round 3 of the Asian On-Road Championship in Melbourne, Australia.

Smokem Racing LCG touring car chassis

Smokem Racing LCG touring car chassis

Smokem Racing has introduced its range of LCG low centre of gravity chassis for three of the most popular electric tourers on the market as are the Tamiya TRF418, Xray T4’14, Yokomo BD7 2014 and BD7. Made from premium 7075-T6 aluminium for a maximum in durability, Smokem’s LCG chassis feature strategically located cutouts for improved flex characteristics and reduced weight compared to other alloy chassis on the market. At 2mm thick and weighing approximately 25-30g more than the IIX-series of chassis, the LCG chassis will substantially lower the centre of gravity of the tourer and they are ideal for higher traction carpet and asphalt surfaces where traction rolling is a problem. Using the LCG chassis in these conditions will make the car more stable, easier to drive and less “edgy”. The extra flex created by the strategically placed cutouts means that the LCG chassis will also work well on medium traction conditions and with a wider setup window.

Smokem Racing T4’14-IIX chassis

Smokem Racing T4'14-IIX chassis

Smokem Racing has taken their proprietary “pro-weave” 100 percent carbon fiber construction and married it to a contoured design to produce the T4’14-IIX chassis for the Xray T4’14 electric touring car. This specially developed 2.0mm thick chassis material is stiffer than conventional weave but softer than a quasi weave. This unique combination of increased flex and lower centre of gravity generates improved corner speed over a wider range of track conditions and temperatures. Through extensive development and testing, Smokem has managed to improve the high speed steering and transitional response with the T4’14-IIX design. Furthermore, the differential and spur gear openings have been closed off to further enhance flex characteristics and improve airflow on the bottom of the chassis.

Smokem 416-IIX carbon fibre chassis

Smokem 416-IIX carbon fibre chassis

Smokem Racing has answered the call of many TRF416 racers by releasing an “IIX” chassis for Tamiya’s venerable TRF416. At the heart of the 416-IIX is a proprietary 2.0mm thick “Pro-Weave” 100 percent carbon fiber construction – which is stiffer than conventional weave but softer than a quasi weave. As seen on the company’s 418-IIX and BD7-IIX chassis, this unique construction is married to a flowing contoured design for increased flex and a lowered centre of gravity. This combination delivers increased corner speed over a wide range of track conditions and temperatures. High speed steering and transitional response are also improved with the 416-IIX design. The 416-IIX chassis also features mounting holes for Smokem’s 417CTR servo mount to further enhance the flex characteristics of the chassis and to bring the TRF416 fully up to speed with other modern tourer designs.

Smokem BD7-IIX carbon fibre main chassis plate

Smokem BD7-IIX carbon fibre main chassis plate

Made for the Yokomo BD7 and BD7 2014 is the BD7-IIX chassis from Smokem Racing. On the back of the success of their 418-IIX chassis at various international events in recent months, Smokem now launches the latest iteration of their IIX design for the Yokomo BD7 electric tourers. The chassis utilises a proprietary 2.0mm thick “Pro-Weave” pure carbon fibre construction – which is stiffer than conventional weave but softer than a quasi weave. Together with its smooth contoured design, the BD7-IIX chassis provides improved flex characteristics while the thinner construction delivers a lowered centre of gravity for improved corner speed over a wider range of track conditions.

Smokem 418-IIX chassis for the TRF418

Smokem 418-IIX chassis for the TRF418

Smokem’s latest performance chassis is the 418-IIX for Tamiya’s TRF418 touring car. Developed and tested with the help of a top TRF team driver, the 418-IIX chassis utilises a proprietary 2.0mm thick “Pro-Weave” 100 percent carbon fibre construction – which is stiffer than conventional weave but softer than a quasi weave. Together with its flowing contoured design, the 418-IIX chassis provides increased flex and a lowered centre of gravity, improving corner speed over a wider range of track conditions as the chassis already prove with a Smokem equipped car set the fastest overall time by a TRF418 in the modified class during the finals at the 2014 TITC race.
