Toy Fair 2012 – Schumacher

In the new booth from Schumacher Racing sits the Cougar SV2 1/10th scale 2wd EP buggy. Based on its predecessor it has received a number of major upgrades for 2012 not least is the aluminium main chassis. 8mm longer than the SV, there will be optional versions to give a further 14mm or 8mm less to be more like the older car. The chassis helps keep the weight down low and offers better flex. The chassis can also accommodate a saddle or shorty pack with an option to use a stick pack.

Toy Fair 2012 – S-Workz

S-Workz are displaying their products again this year with the main focus on their S-350 BE-1. Based on their BK-1 gas buggy it retains the same front and rear ends with the centre fitted out to accept electrics. Claiming the be the narrowest chassis on a 1/8th scale buggy at 10cm near the rear of the car, it comes as a full pro kit with all the carbon and machined aluminium goodness you would expect from a high end kit. The car accepts two 2S packs standing on end at the rear of the car with the electronics at the front, all of which can be removed from the car with 7 screws. Toy Fair 2012 – Serpent

Starting the first day of the toy fair at the Serpent stand, we were shown around the huge number of new products in their booth. First up is the new 747 1/10th scale 200mm chase which features new geometry front and rear as well as a front flex system that through the use of two tie rods connecting the front blocks to the radio plate can help adjust the chassis flex. A new radio plate retains the configuration of the 733 but with the radio box removed. A nice feature of the car is the new symmetrical chassis plate that sports an area for mounting weight to the centre line of the chassis which can be moved forward or rearward to influence the cars balance. Other new features include new RCM shock absorbers that now feature membranes again instead of the foam inserts.

Toy Fair 2012 – HB / HPI Racing

The toy fair may not yet have even started and we have already been around the HB HPI Racing stand to get the lowdown on their new products for 2012. One surprise product on the booth was an all new 1/10th 200mm platform. Having previously been in this market with the R40, which won the ROAR nationals in the hands of Atsushi Hara, this as yet unnamed prototype has been constructed from prototype material in order to show it here and looks like a fairly solid car with a conventional layout and configuration. With the World Championships in Thailand in November the company expects to have the car ready in time to challenge for the win with a car driven by Atsushi Hara on his home track RC Addict.
