CTS4 Rd2 – Report

History went down this past weekend at TQ RC Racing Hobbies in Chino, California as a young rising star at 10 years old and a recently sponsored team Xray driver named Jacob Cruz showed a dominating performance by being the first ever Triple Crown Winner to compete in CTS. The youngster won concourse, TQ honors and overall triple main capturing the first two mains while sitting out the third. In the Touring Modified division, Brandon Clements, factory team Xray driver, showed he had the car to beat turning the fastest lap times in practice. Factory team Yokomo driver Randy Caster and Xray driver Jacob Cruz also showed fast lap times but Clements would hold hot lap. In Saturday’s qualifying, Randy secured the top spot for Q1 and Q2 leaving the opportunity open for more improvement as the traction came up. In Q3 the pace was faster than TQ as three racers threatened to beat the time. Early in the run Caster’s BD9 came out leading the qualifier. A minute into it Eric Albano took the lead producing the fastest lap during the run with his Awesomatix mid motor car. But as the race went on Jacob Cruz would then takes his T4’19 to the lead completing a perfect run to secure TQ honors.

Martin Bayer teams up with Mibosport

Mibosport have announced the addition of Xray off-road frontrunner, Martin Bayer to their team. Martin will be using Sanwa products in all of his Xray 1/8th and 1/10th scale rides while being Mibosport representative at all races he attends locally, nationally and abroad. Martin has the following to day about the deal:

I am very happy I can join Mibosport team. It’s great opportunity for me and I have to thanks to Michal Bok for his trust in me. I will be racing with new Sanwa M17 radio, everyone is welcome to come for chat about new radio, and I am free to help. See you on track.

Jesper Rasmussen wins at Danish On-road Champs Rd5

Round 5 of the Danish Electric On-road Nationals was held in Tinglev this past weekend. In the Formula class, that suffered from a somewhat low turnout, it was Jesper Rasmussen with a clean sweep, taking the wins in all qualifiers and the triple A-mains to grab the victory from David Hansen in 2nd and Lasse Moller Horup in 3rd.

Vesa Yli takes Finnish 1/12th Modified title

Round 3 and 4 of the Finnish 12Track Tour were held this past weekend. During Sunday’s round 4 Vesa Yli and Panu Vehniäinen would battle it out in the 1/12th Modified class with the better end for Vesa after the qualifiers as he managed to separate himself from Panu by a couple of seconds. The triple A-mains again were a super close affair with the two being separated by only tenths of a second in each leg. Ultimately it was Vesa with the win from Panu, which handed Yli the overall championship title – his third in a row. Panu would end the championship on the runner-up spot while Petri Ström and Ari-Pekka Kyykkä completed the overall top 4. Over in the GT-12 class it was Jaakko Huhmarsalo with the overall title from Juha-Matti Heikkala and Janne Valtanen in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Pedro Gomes takes 4WD win at B.I.R. 6.0

The B.I.R. 6.0 race was recently held in Ferrol, Spain, attracting local racers and guests from abroad. In the 1/10th 4WD Buggy class it was Portugal’s Pedro Gomes (Xray) who would take the overall TQ after winning four of the five qualifiers. In the A-mains Pedro would again hold the upper hand, taking the overall from the Serpent duo of Carlos Duares in 2nd and Hugo Miguel in 3rd.

Moon & Kerry win at Essex Carpet Clash Rd3

Last weekend saw round three of the ever growing Essex Carpet Clash series take place in the south of England. Having had a successful pervious two rounds, entries were in for another round, with further improvements for the day ahead. Many returning and new drivers for this series turned up in the morning to a fully laid track featuring more and new jumps to test the skill level of any driver. Both 2WD and 4WD classes were run, with the 2WD being the more popular class. In qualifying, it was Ed Kerry and Will Venables taking the 1st round wins, showing their pace and consistence on track. Overall, in 4WD Ed managed to secure the pole position for the A main having topped 3 of the 4 rounds, but he had been chased all day closely but both Mark Lewis and Luke Mills, who lined up behind him in the finals. In 2WD, Will wasn’t able to capitalise taking the 1st round, but stayed steady throughout the day placing this buggy 2nd on the grid for the A-main. Topping the 2WD class was Klye Moon who took 3 from the 4 rounds of qualifying, showing that he meant business, giving a glimpse of what pace he had for the finals. Showing that he still has what it takes and lining up 3rd was Ellis Stafford, followed by Ross Nicholson and Joe Howson.

Patrick Gassauer wins at BWS Rd5

Round 5 of the Berlin Winter Series was held in Berlin, Germany last weekend. Almost 100 drivers signed in and in the Touring Car class it was veteran racer, Patrick Gassauer with the win from Stefan Schulz on the runner-up spot. Another veteran to the class, Dennis Fadtke, would round out the top 3 result.

Daniel Kobbevik wins at Elefun Cup Rd6

The sixth round of the Elefun Cup was held in Grimstad in the south of Norway. The race was held on a tight yet fun indoor track that made for some EOS feeling thanks to the grip available. The event attracted young gun Daniel Kobbevik (Xray) who would set the pace and he also took the win in the 4WD Buggy class with Gisle Brovig and Jaran Flaath (both Xray) rounding out the top 3 results in the wheeler class.
