The final round for 2017 of the Schumacher BTCC took place this weekend at the popular Cotswolds circuit. The drivers had to contend with incredibly mixed and difficult track conditions throughout the day as the UK weather is definitely in Autumn mode. Soren Boy Holst wins at Danish EP On-road finale

The final round of the Danish Electric On-road Championship was held in Odense over the weekend. Saturday’s practice was pretty much washed away and only a handful of drivers tried to tackle the track with prepped cars. Sunday then started off with two round of controlled practice but unfortunately the track was still moist so track activity would be limited. With this being the championship decider Mike Gosvig and Kevin Nielsen were both keen to score maximum points, as they went even into the final round, but it was veteran racer Soren Boy Holst, who only has some sort of a practice season in 2017 but already won the Glostrup round of the nationals and the Hot Race Summer Cup, who stamped his authority with his VBC Racing car by taking the pole position for the triple A-mains. His TQ also meant the oh so important extra point was taken away from the championship contenders.

Kaja Novotny trifecta at Czech 1/10th Off-road Nats

The final round of the Czech 1/10th Electric Off-road Nationals was held in Usti nad Labem. The organisers had created a new layout for the huge astro turf track and in the 2WD Buggy and 4WD Buggy classes it was Xray’s Kaja Novotny who managed to TQ all round of qualifying to take the pole positions in the respective classes. In the opening 2WD A-main Kaja suffered bad luck as a piece of astro turf caused havoc to his car which allowed Ales Bidovsky to take the win. A2 then was a done deal for Kaja which meant the final A-main would decide over the race win and also the overall title. For three minutes Kaja and Ales would have a great fight until the latter made a mistake and so Kaja would cruise to the win and the overall championship. Another fight was on for the overall 3rd place between Marek Schiller and Milan Mudra. Ultimately Milan would prevail to take the final podium spot.

It was the first ever Nationals on a full astro turf track JConcepts Lockness tyres being chosen as the control tyre. The fast layout and super high traction made it difficult to manage error-free runs and in the 2WD qualifying it was a 2-way battle between local driver Philipp Märzinger and Hupo Hönigl. Both had two TQ runs each, but in the end Phillip could take the overall TQ with the fastest overall time. In the finals Phillip was way too nervous and crashed early in the first two mains, which Hupo could win in cruise mode.
