ETS waves chequered flag on 10th season with first visit to Ettlingen

The chequered flag will be waved on the 10th season of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series this weekend (28-30 July) as the championship travels for the first time to the Ettlingen track in Germany. A regular host venue of the Euro Nitro Series, Ettlingen will become the 10th different outdoor circuit to feature on the ETS calendar over its hugely successful 10 seasons of existence. The 57th race to be put on by Uwe Rheinard and Scotty Ernst since creating the championship in 2007, the Ettlingen entry includes all four of the drivers who have lifted the prestigious ETS title in that period. While Bruno Coelho already wrapped up his second consecutive Volante Modified title last month at the Hudy Arena, the racing will be no less competitive with teams looking to end their campaigns on a high note.

RC Maniacs Argos Championship Rd2 – Report

The second round of the RC Maniacs Championship was held at the Argos track in Greece. Classes run were Touring Modified, Touring Stock 13.5T blinky, and Formula 17.5T blinky. Tyres were open but the Touring car drivers opted to use LRP’s G32 tyre as it is the handout wheel for the Greek championships, while the Formula class relied on the new Hudy Formula tyres. To increase fun and add a bit of spectacle it was decided to run the event in a Reedy race format with six of eight rounds counting towards the overall results. In Touring Modified Xray’s Michalis Kiriazis was a force but he had to leave early due to family obligations – a situation local driver Diamantis Sotiris (Xray) took advantage of to grab the overall win with Nikos Nikolakopoulos coming in close 2nd. Christos Vasilopoulos (Tamiya) finished 3rd ahead of another local Xray driver, Christos Kindis.

BRCA Truggy & E-Buggy Nationals Rd4 – Report

Round four of the BRCA Truggy & E-Buggy Nationals was held in South Wales at the Pembrey Racing Circuit. The day’s racing was interesting to say the least. There was heavy rain during the night so the track was wet to start with. The numbers for this meeting as a little disappointing with only 36 drivers turning up. During the booking-in process the sun had come out, but as luck would have it during the drivers briefing it started to rain. The first few rounds of qualifying was wet but the track did dry out very quickly. Once the track had dried out the lap times were getting lower, and true to South Wales Fashion the rain came down again for the last round in qualifying.

2017 Benelux Electric On-road race – Report

The annual Benelux 1/10th scale electric race was held this past weekend at the fast track of Rucphen in the Netherlands. Free practice on Friday took place in ideal weather conditions with track temperatures exceeding 35 degree Celsius. The weather forecast for the weekend wasn’t so good though and this lead to several last-minute withdrawals. Nevertheless a good amount of drivers turned up to attend in the four classes of Touring Modified, Touring Stock 13.5T, Formula and Pro10 10.5T. In Touring Modified, Mitchell Van Es, one of contenders for the overall victory in the modified class, had a glitch on the main straight and crashed his Awesomatix at full speed into the barriers. This meant that the young Dutch driver had to defend his chances with his old Yokomo.
