Czech National On-road Championships – Report

Czech National On-road Championships – Report

The Summer portion of the Czech National On-road Championships was recently held in Brno-Bosonohy. Over 50 drivers from all over the country attended in the five classes of Touring Modified, Touring Stock, Formula, GT Open and GT Stock. The event started off with practice on Friday followed by five qualifiers on Saturday and triple mains on Sunday. The rubber tyre 4WD classes used Hot Race hand out tyres with great results as even in the hot weather conditions the tyres held up fine, making for equal conditions for everyone. In the premier Touring Modified class it looked like Jiri Vysin would take an easy TQ with his closest competitor, Radek Flek struggling with overheating tyre. Fast Kuba Simurda ran in to electronic issues and another pre-event favourite, Petr Grof, was simply not fast enough. And out of nowhere Radek Voda scored low-point results to take a popular overall TQ from Jiri and Radek, promising some nice battles for the A-mains.

Traction 2016 Rd1 – Report

Traction 2016 Rd1 – Report

This past Sunday saw the start of the Traction 2016 race series at Swifts Raceway. The revamped Autumn Shootout was back to sort the winners from the wannabes. Like last year the championship had attracted some of the UK’s top drivers such as National champions Adam Catchpole, Darren Newton and Andy Murray. Also joining the field was newly crowned Formula Clubman champion Luke Lee. Once again the pit lane was full of activity and great banter before the track wars begun. The track layout seem to favour the GT10’s and Formula classes with a lot of fast flowing corners. It was going to make it a very close meeting for the smaller GT12’s.

LRP-HPI-Challenge 2016 finale – Report

The 2016 LRP-HPI-Challenge finale was held at the RCCT-Münden track in Hannoversch Münden, Germany over the weekend with about 145 entries for the four classes of Stock 13.5T, GT 17.5T, Classic and Rookie. Unfortunately the weather was pretty changing over the weekend with especially the Saturday brought some unexpected results on the sometimes wet, sometimes drying track. Fortunately the finals on Sunday would be held in better weather with the Sun eventually coming out. The fastest class of the series is Touring Stock 13.5T with Team Magic’s Patrick Gassauer taking the opening A-main while Lars Hoppe (ARC) scored a win in A2. Kevin Sparbier (Serpent) came out fastest in A3 and when the dust settled it was Patrick who came out on top from Kevin with both being tie on points but the better tie-breaker handed Patrick the title. In third Lars completed the podium result.

Coelho opens EOS title defence with win

Coelho opens EOS title defence with win

Bruno Coelho has opened the defence of his Euro Offroad Series 4WD title with a win, the Xray driver claiming the overall victory at the opening round of the championship at the Nurburgring in Germany.  The win marks the World Champions fourth consecutive EOS victory and his second at the iconic motor racing circuit, his title having been claimed here back in April at last season’s finale.  Like in A1 Coelho would win A2 after an almost identical mistake from Top Qualifier Lee Martin who once again rolled coming off the Team Associated Step-up Step-down, a feature the reigning 2WD champion took an immediate dislike when seeing it for the first time when he arrived at the track on Thursday night.  Managing to maintain his No.1 starting position throughout A3 that would secure last year’s race winner 2nd overall with Michal Orlowski completing the podium.
