Cavalieri dominates Team Associated Off-road Champs

The 2016 Team Associated Off-road Championships were held this past weekend at Trackside R/C in Brookfield, Wisconsin. After qualifying was complete, Ryan Cavalieri would got onto TQ 2WD Modified Buggy, Modified Truck, and 2WD Modified Short Course. He would also tie for the overall TQ in 4WD Modified Buggy, but was just edged out by his teammate Spencer Rivkin. Cavaleri would then win A-Main one and two of 2WD Modified Buggy to take home his first championship of the weekend. Cav then would also win A-mains two and three of 4WD Modified Buggy to take home his second championship and to round out a perfect weekend he would also come out fastest in the single A-mains in Modified Truck and 2WD Modified Short Course to complete the sweep for the weekend.

Roberto Castañón Palomo wins Asturian TC finale

The sixth and final round of the Asturian Regional 1/10th Electric Touring Championship was held at the Automodelismo Gijon club. In the Touring Stock class the pole position went to Aitor Fernández and the finals proved to be a very close affair between the pole position holder and young Roberto Castañón Palomo, who is in his first year of racing and ultimately won the finals by four tenth of a second to take the overall win from Aitor while Álvaro Díaz Nieto rounded out the top 3 result.

Ribeiro & Ramos win at Portuguese Cup

The 1/10th Electric Off-road Portuguese Cup was held at the Indoor RC Oeste track in Torres Vedras near Lisbon. With a refurbished track and a good turnout of drivers in both the 2WD and 4WD Buggy classes, the race was full of intense battles. In 2WD it was Nuno Casal Ribeiro (Team Associated) that took the TQ and overall win but not without being heavily chased by the youngest pilot, 10-years old Pedro Gomes (Team Durango), with the victory being decided on the last lap of the second final. The final step on the podium went third to Marco Timóteo (Xray).

Marc Valero takes Spanish Pro10 Championship

The final round of the Spanish Pro10 Championship was held at the Rubi track in Barcelona. Pre-event favourite Marc Valero grabbed the TQ from Sergio Lacuesta in second and Jaime Lacuesta in third. The finals then saw Marc continue to dominate, as he took the day’s win and with it the overall championship title. Sergio ended the day on the runner-up spot from Raul Carmona while Jaime made a mistake, taking him out of the decision for the podium spots. Overall in the Championship it was Jaime Lacuesta who obtained the vice championship title from Sergio Lacuesta in third.

7th Annual Northwest Invitational – Announcement

The 7th Annual Northwest Invitational will be held November 19th to 20th at Cottage Grove R/C Raceway in Cottage Grove, Oregon. Over the past six years, The Northwest Invitational has brought in some of the best factory drivers in the World including 4-time IFMAR World Champion Ryan Cavalieri, 2-time World Champion Jared Tebo, and ROAR National Champion Dustin Evans. The event will see triple bump-up A-mains and it is held in an Invitational 2WD Mod Buggy class as well as 2WD Mod Buggy Open, 4WD Mod Buggy, Super Stock 13.5T Truck, Stock 17.5T Buggy, and also 2WD Mod SCT. Joni Skidmore teams up with Yokomo

Yokomo have announced the signing of UK’s Joni Skidmore to their electric off-road team. The young man will race the company’s YZ-2 and YZ-4 buggies in the country’s major series and also at select EOS events and he has the following to say about the deal:

I would like to thank Yokomo, Yokomo Europe and MB Models for giving me the opportunity to race the superb YZ-2 and YZ-4 electric buggies. I am looking forward to hitting the track this winter and hope to succeed at the UK’s premier race series and some EOS events. SARDA Electric On-road Nationals Rd5 – Report

The fifth and final round of the 2016 South-African ORE national championship returned to the TRAP RC Venue in Pretoria after round two was rained out at the same venue. Free practise was held on Thursday and Friday with a heat wave hitting the Gauteng province. The air temperature peaked at 38 Degree Celsius and the track temperature went up to 64 Degree. The heat put tremendous pressure on the batteries, tyres and electronics and the drivers had to choose their setups carefully and also manage the tyres during the race. The Touring Modified class is still growing stronger and all the drivers need to be at their best to qualify for the A-mains. All the top drivers pushed hard during the practice rounds and during qualifying but it was Shaun Schutte who dominated the class with his Xray during practise and qualifying to take TQ. There was a great battle between current champion Jason Hillcoat, Anderton Smith, Antonio Caroli and Ashley Hurley for the remaining grid positions. Anderton managed to take second after a good Q3 and Q4 with Antonio starting third in the A Mains.
