Sobue & Kiyomoto defend PRCA titles

The PRCA final race was held at the GRC asphalt track in Gimpo, South Korea. In the Touring Car Modified class TQ holder Akio Sobue (Tamiya) took the win from Ryan Lee (TOP) and Ahn Jung Hyun (Awesomatix). The 13.5T Open class had Masami Kiyomoto (ARC) taking the win from Jo Chadol (Yokomo) while TQ holder Yoon Pansik (Yokomo) had to settle for 3rd. The victories of last year’s PRCA Japan winners Akio Sobue and Masami Kiyomoto allowed both to defend their titles and they will be invited to next year’s PRCA final in Singapore.

Rudy Rico takes E-Buggy & Pro4 JBRL E-series titles

Rudy Rico takes E-Buggy & Pro4 JBRL E-series titles

Tekno RC’s Rudy Rico has secured himself the 1/8th E-Buggy and Pro4 Short Course titles at this year’s JBRL Electric Series. In the 1/8th class Rudy scored a total 610 points leaving Ryan Dunford (TLR) and Chris Blais (Team Associated) in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. In Pro4 Rudy left the TLR duo of David Jenson and Ryan Dunford behind who rounded out the top 3 overall result.

Andy Moore wins EWS Opener

The first round of the 2014-2015 Essex Winter Series took place this weekend. A capacity entry of 120 drivers kicked off the championship, which featured a change in the class structure and a move to the new Ride REX 30 carpet tire. The Zen Racing Modified class featured a stacked entry, with everyone out to wrestle the title from Team Durango’s Elliott Harper. The opening qualifying round saw 2006 World Champion Andy Moore, making his UK debut with the new HPI HB Pro 5, top the timesheets, narrowly ahead of Elliott, and multi-time UK National Champion Chris Grainger.

Matsukura completes ‘perfect’ EOS weekend

Naoto Matsukura completed a perfect weekend in Poland as he backed up his 2WD success with a convincing first 4WD victory at the opening round of the Euro Offroad Series.  Getting his 2WD title defence underway on Saturday by collecting maximum points, his Sunday win means the Yokomo driver heads back to Japan as leader of both championships.  Becoming only the third driver to win in 4WD, Matsukura did so with ease backing up his A1 win with another tone to tone win despite a lap 10 error that cost him over 2-seconds.  Taking the win in A3, defending champion Joern Neumann would as he did in 2WD, finish 2nd overall with American Carson Wernimont completing the podium at the Poznan ‘Hobby’ exhibition hosted race.

Matsukura wraps up 4WD TQ at EOS Round 1

A clean sweep of the opening three qualifiers at the Euro Offroad Series season opener in Poland this morning have secured Naoto Matsukura an early overall TQ for 4WD. The Yokomo driver secured his second ever EOS pole position in the 4WD class, having TQ’d last season’s final round, by topping Q3 ahead of defending champion Joern Nuemann having also beaten the German in Q2.  A repeat of the Q2 Top 3 Lee Martin would again post the third fastest time.

Matsukura takes opening 4WD qualifier

Winner of 2WD yesterday, Naoto Matsukura got 4WD underway this morning at the Euro Offroad Series underway in Poland with a TQ run in the opening round of qualifying.  Having set the pace in Friday’s practice, the Yokomo driver survived two mistakes over the 5-minutes to just pip Team Durango’s Michal Orlowski by 4/10ths of a second.  Completing the Top 3 for the first of the five scheduled qualifiers was Lee Martin with defending champion Joern Neumann posting the fifth fastest time.

Naoto Matsukura got his 2WD title defence in the Euro Offroad Series off to the perfect start in Poznan, Poland, as he took the overall win at Round 1 of the championship’s fourth season.  Having survived making contact with Top Qualifier Carson Wernimont in A1, the Yokomo driver wrapped up the win in A2 with a more straight forward pass on the American to win by 10-seconds.  Taking the win in A3 ahead of Lee Martin, Joern Neumann would claim second overall with Martin completing the podium, his first in 2WD for Yokomo.

Impressive Wernimont secures overall TQ at EOS Rd1

Carson Wernimont has become the first American to TQ a round of the European high profile Euro Offroad Series, the Schumacher driver securing pole position for the season opener in Poland from reigning champion Naoto Matsukura.  Going into the final qualifier in a three way shootout for the honour of Top Qualifier with Yokomo pairing Matsukura and Lee Martin, third behind Joern Neumann and Jesper Rasmussen was enough for Wernimont to achieve something his fellow countrymen Ryan Cavalieri, Dustin Evans and Mike Truhe failed to do.
