Austrian nitro on-road nationals Rd4

The fourth round of the Austrian nitro on-road nationals took place at the MORAC track in Graz, the venue of the 1/10 IC EC-A in 2013. Heavy rain on Saturday meant that only one driver tried tackle the first round of qualifiers and even the Sunday started wet, although under better conditions. As the rain stopped the track became more dry every round and nearly all drivers did their best to qualify as high in the ranking as possible. The third and final round of qualifiers took place under nearly dry conditions but mechanical problems for many of the usual top drivers meant mixed up qualifying results.

Tebo wins 15th Annual HRH Shootout

The 15th Annual HRH Shootout was held July 19th to 22nd at Hot Rod Hobbies in Saugus, California. The weather was very typical for the Shootout being in the upper 90’s all weekend long putting controllers, motors, and batteries to the ultimate test. This year’s event brought in over 300 race entries. In the Modified Truck Class it was TLR factory driver Dustin Evans taking the TQ honours. In A main number 1 TLR’s Dakotah Phend went on to take the win over his teammate Dustin Evans by one second. Steven Hartson finished 3rd. A main number 2 saw Kyosho’s Jared Tebo taking the win from the fourth starting position. Steven Hartson finished second and Dustin Evans in third. In the deciding third A main Steven Hartson would take the win, Tebo finished second only .4 seconds behind, and Dustin Evans finished third. With both Tebo and Hartson finishing with a first and second in two of the mains, the title would come down to combined laps and times as the tie-breaker. After everything was added together, it was Team Orion/Kyosho’s Jared Tebo taking the Modified Truck overall win by .1 second.

Martin Bayer defends large-scale EC title

Last weekend saw the Large-scale Touring Car European Championship at Valencia. Starting from Pole Position with a dominant drive Martin Bayer/RS5 was able to defend his European Championship title he took in Leipzig/Germany last year. After a clean start Bayer stayed in front followed by Arnaldi. Then during the first lap Arnaldi tried to overtake Bayer and both cars touched with the result of a rolling RS5 of Martin and a stop and go penalty for Arnaldi. With his move the French lost his chance to fight for the title. Martin was able to pull away in the first minutes of the race and never looked back from that point on. Markus Feldmann was the only real competitor for Bayer and always stayed within a distance of five to eight seconds but ran out of fuel with two minutes to go. This gave Arnaldi handed Arnaldi the vice championship with Andrea Catalani completing the podium.

Matsukura dominates Leg 1 in Holland

There was no real surprise in the opening leg of the A-Main at the 1:12 World Championships as defending champion & Top Qualifier Naoto Matsukura dominated the race to take the win comfortably ahead of Andy Moore and Rick Hohwart despite the young Japanese star’s prototype Yokomo getting knocked around as he was lapping the mid pack three laps from the finish.  Running wide at the first corner, an opportunity that the No.2 starting Associated of Ronald Volker failed to exploit, the 18-year quickly got into his rhythm to break clear of the pack. As if he needed it, that gap was further extended as the chasing pack tripped one another up on more than one occasion.
