Wischnewski wins Euro ‘B’ 10th Champs

Wischnewski wins Euro ‘B’ 1/10th Champs

The European ‘B’ Championships for 1/10th scale 200mm took place last week at the beautiful Ampuis track in France. After some rain in the practice days, qualifying got underway and it was French racer Michael Derderian, driving a Serpent, that claimed pole position from Italian Team Magic racer Mario Spiniello in 2nd followed by the Xray pairing of Thomas Eytard and Guido Barbera. The start of the main final saw Mario Spinello jump straight into the lead, but dropped back after some issues. Thomas Eyard was fastest in the final and set a new track record, but after serious interference problems his chances for the title disappeared, while around the same time that Xray driver Dirk Wischnewski was hit by another car, losing him 1 lap on the leader. Having opted to not change tires in the final, Dirk managed to work his way to the front of the field, where he could extend his lead to 1 lap, taking the victory in front of Bougnoteau in 2nd place, and Thomas Eytard in 3rd spot.

Maifield wins 2008 Pro Line Challenge

Maifield wins 2008 Pro Line Challenge

Our mates at Neo Buggy were at last weekends Pro Line event in the UK, which saw the finals run on the bank holiday Monday. Qualifying saw Ryan Maifield take the buggy TQ ahead of Associated team mate Neil Cragg and Hobao racer Graham Alsop 3rd fastest. The Buggy final saw Maifield open up a lead only for Linus Thern and Elliot Boots to catch, before both drivers ran out of fuel, which left Alsop chasing Maifield. Maifield then flamed out just as he as fuelling and so Alsop could open a small gap which he held until the 41st minute. Maifield then took over at the front, while a hard charging Jared Tebo closed in on the leader but it was too late and Maifield crossed the finish line first with Tebo in 2nd and Alsop 3rd. The truggy final, which was made up of all 12 drivers that entered the class, saw Alsop take the lead, but his engine was very rich and he eventually flamed out leaving Joern Neumann and Linus Thern to fight it out. A better fuel strategy by Linus meant he could take the lead and the win with Neumann finishing 2nd and Alsop 3rd.

European Touring Series – Round 4

ETS Series

4For the 4th and final round of the 2007/2008 Much More backed European Touring Series, the action moves to Germany and the Andernach track, close to Koblenz in the West of the country on the 27th – 29th of June. The organisers wanted to end this inaugural season with a big celebration, so as per the usual format, the racing will be open for Modified and Pro Stock classes, and this will be the main event, but as a sideshow and to create a relaxed party atmosphere there will be some side events for the competitors such as cage soccer or beach volleyball, or both. Along with having the best drivers from Europe participating, they are also expecting to have former World Champion Atsushi Hara as well as country mate Shin Adachi from Japan in attendance, and from the USA they are hoping to have top racer Paul LeMieux competing.

Christoffer Svensson dominates NXC 08

Christoffer Svensson dominates NXC 08

Neo Buggy are reporting on a fantastic weekend for Christoffer Svensson at the Nordic Xray Challenge, who dominated the whole race from start to finish with double TQ, double pole position and wins in both the buggy and truggy classes. In the buggy main, Svensson took the lead from pole before dropping to 2nd on lap 2, and then retaking the lead before driving away. Hazlewood battled early on with Gustafsson, with Gus eventually opening a gap from Hazlewood, but was unable to fully catch a hard-charging Svensson. In the end Gustafsson was denied a worthy second place by clutch issues and this left Hazlewood in 2nd and Mikael Palsson in 3rd. In the truggy class Svensson started out front but was passed early by Hazlewood, and then proceeded to battle each other for a while, but fast consistent driving and good pit stops gifted Svensson the lead on lap 16. Hazlewood had 2nd place wrapped up until lap 38 where center diff issues forced him to retire and this allowed Henrik Nilsson up into 2nd and Niclas Brunsberg in 3rd.

Viktor Wilck wins TC WC Warm-up

Viktor Wilck wins TC WC Warm-up

The finals at this years Pre Worlds in Thailand have been run under dry conditions as the expected rains didnt show up. Leg 1 of the main final saw Masami Hirosaka take the win for Yokomo as early leader Viktor Wilck clipped a kerb which allowed following pair of Marc Rheinard and Masami through, though Marc went wide leaving Hirosaka into the lead and on to take the win. The 2nd leg saw a good battle at the front as Atsushi Hara worked his way to the front after some great passing moves, and the Hot Bodies racer continued to lead until 1 minute to go when his car shut down, allowing Wilck back into the lead followed by Rheinard and Serpent driver Billy Easton. This all meant the winner would be decided in leg 3 and it was Viktor Wilck that jumped straight into the lead with Hara in2nd, managing to get past Rheinard early on. This was how it stayed until again close to the end, when Hara had another shut down, leaving Marc up into 2nd and Hayato Matsuzaki up into 3rd. This result gave Viktor Wilck the overall win ahead of Tamiya team mate Marc Rheinard in 2nd, while Masami Hirosaka took 3rd after a tie break with Matsuzaki and Easton.
