Snowbirds Motor Tech 2007

Snowbirds Motor Tech 2007

With the biggest indoor race in the world, The Snowbirds, only around the corner the organisers have released some of their findings with regards concerns that some stock motors come 10 degrees timed more or less than the factory 24 degrees they are supposed to be. Of the 40 motors tested, 20 new CS27s and 20 new Komodos, none had any major tweaking to the timing but there were some tiny differences due to tolerances. You can see the highly accurate gauge in the picture above that will be used to test all racers and anyone found with a heavily tweaked armature will be disqualified, so best check with tech control before the racing starts.

You can read their full report and see more images here.

Paul LeMieux confirmed to race NT1

Paul LeMieux confirmed to race NT1

All round top Xray driver Paul LeMieux has been confirmed to drive the all new NT1 this season and will be debuting at the upcoming Winternats in Florida at the beginning of February. In this week alone, Jilles Groskamp and Carlos Peracho have been signed up to the big names already running the new car like Ralph Burch and Barry Baker. Which such a big team and so much hype around the release of this car lets hope it doesn’t dissapoint.

I have seen a lot of RC factories and tracks around the world but nothing even comes close to XRAY’s amazing new facility. I very proud to have such a professional company and very nice people supporting me. Testing and running the NT1 went great, it was no surprise to me but very impressive that XRAY’s very first nitro touring car will be top notch from the start.

Juho Levanen wins Fintrack Nationals Rd1

Fintrack Nationals Rd1

Last weekend saw round 1 of the Fintrack Nationals held Kuusankoski track in a big sports hall. The event was very well attended despite it being held the week after the DHI cup and saw Teemu Leino, Juho Levanen and Simo Ahoniemi all entered. Despite being quick in qualifying and the races, a number of small errors meant that Teemu Leino couldnt translate that pace into a win and it was Juho Levanen that took the overall win ahead of Xray drivers Leino and Pekka Koivula in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Carlos Peracho signs for Team Xray

Carlos Peracho signs for Team Xray

Multiple Spanish champion and European Championship finalist, Carlos Peracho has left Serpent to sign for Team Xray to race the NT1. Carlos has strong links to both manufacturers through his family distribution company that imports both lines into Spain and after many years driving for the Dutch manufacturer has decided on a change. Despite moving to Xray in the 1/10th class, Carlos will continue to race Serpent in the 1/8th scale class.

Coming to XRAY I was surprised and doubly shocked. First when I first saw the whole facility/factory and the world’s most unique and best racing facility, and then second after seeing and testing the NT1. I have many years’ experience with nitro touring cars and I just could not believe how quickly I was able to improve my best lap times using the NT1.

Bastian Hennig wins Stock class at DHI Cup

Bastian Hennig wins Stock class at DHI Cup

With all the attention normally focussed on the Modified category at big races, it sometimes overshadows the great competition that takes place in the other classes. Whilst we focused on Ronald Völkers win at last weekends DHI Cup, it was Bastian Hennig, driving and Xray, that took the stock class win after starting from 2nd place after qualifying. Bastian managed some better results in the A-main to get passed pole man Dennis Fadtke and take the overall class win with Fadtke dropping 1 place back to take 2nd overall, ahead of Lars Hoppe who took the final podium step in 3rd. Bastian was running the Orcan batteries that we featured on our site a few weeks back to take the win.
