Bruno Heremans wins Benelux Offroad Championships

Bruno Heremans wins Benelux Offroad Championships

The combined Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg Championship Series concluded last weekend with a surprise win by Bruno Heremans and his X-6 Squared.  Coming into the last race at Vlijmen, Netherlands, X Factory’s Stefan Mesker held a one point lead over Elvo after six races in the seven race series, with best five to count. Heremans and X-Teamer Stefan Mesker were the only two drivers in with a chance for the title. The grass track deteriorated slowly through the day, becoming rougher, and many drivers found themselves on their lids unexpectedly. Heremans drove his X-6 Squared carefully but quickly from fourth on the grid to win the first two A mains and with it the overall Championship. Stefan Mesker, 2009 Netherlands Champ and 2010 BeNeLux Champ, came second in the BeNeLux this year, therefore won the Netherlands Championship again.

Lopes wins final Modelcar-Novamodel Challenge Series race

TLR swept the final round of the Modelcar-Novamodel Challenge Series this past weekend. The final round was held at the new track of Vilela (Paredes) in northern Portugal. TLR driver Ricardo Monteiro already locked up the series championship at the last round taking some pressure off him for the final meeting. Ricardo put his TLR 8ight 2.0 EU in the number one starting grid position for the 45min A-main after winning his semi-final.  On lap three Ricardo experienced some problems giving the lead to his TLR teammate Joao Lopes, the young tiger, to take the win at the final round of the championship with his TLR 8ight 2.0 EU buggy. TLR driver, Nuno Rebelo, was second and Carlos Cardoso took the third spot for a TLR podium sweep.

Jason Branham dominates RC Pro Series Rd16

Jason Branham dominates RC Pro Series Rd16

Round 16 of the RC Pro Series was held at Gears RC Club in Harlingen, TX.  Gears RC knows a thing or two about running an event as it was host to the 2005 ROAR 1.8 Championships. Jason Branham took TQ honors in both Pro Buggy and Pro Truggy and in the mains, Jason showed that he would not be slowed down as he would go on to win both classes as well. Jason used the current ROAR National champion Blockades in M3 on his Agama buggy and the newly designed Revolver 2.0 VTR’s in M3 on his truck.  Both mains were 45 minutes and the M3 compound on both vehicles held up great with plenty of tread to spare.

DJ Apolaro wins ROAR Sedan Nationals

DJ Apolaro wins ROAR Sedan Nationals

This past weekend we had the 2011 National Championship Race held at the ControlFreakz track in Chaplin CT and DJ Apolaro sent us this report. All the big players had come out to claim the prize and fight it out for the top spot. I was running both classes, as in the US they combine 1/8 scale and Sedan. What also makes it tough is they only qualify the top 4 into the final, which could mean a lot of driving to try and advance from a Semi or ¼ final.

Amezcua wins BL class at 2011 Gas Champs

Travis Amezcua wins 1/8th BL at 2011 Gas Champs

Travis Amezcua from Mugen Seiki, Reedy, AKA, LRP, HandleIT Hobbies and Airtronics took home the victory this past weekend in the 1/8 electric class at the 2011 Thunder Alley Gas Champs with his MBX6 ECO. With the new LRP iX8 and the Dynamic 8 LRP motor, Travis put the new combo to work and the system ran flawlessly all weekend long offering the right amount of power for the very technical track layout that Thunder Alley had to offer. With the 11 minute plus mains the Reedy 5500 4S provided plenty of runtime for the event with room to spare and all this power was put to the ground with AKA rubber. Travis would start from the number one spot for both main events and would take victory in both mains to clam the 2011 electric 1/8 title over Ryan Lutz in 2nd and Ryan Cavalieri in 3rd.

Riccardo stayed patient and drove an excellent final wining the last round and winning the Italian National Championship with his TLR 8ight 2.0 EU buggy.
